Was it a penalty?
At the time I thought that it was and after seeing it again I haven't changed my mind.

Re: Was it a penalty?
If you mean when we scored, I think we'd have got it because the linesman was flagging furiously for it.PaintYorkClaretnBlue wrote:At the time I thought that it was and after seeing it again I haven't changed my mind.

Yes, the lino would have had a word. Total credit to Barnes for standing up and playing the ball

Re: Was it a penalty?
The ref had indicated that it wasn't, I would hope that the lino would have been strong enough to tell him that it was.

But it wasnt... and we were behind the goal the ref turned away to some confusion and thankfully burnley played on!as for the linesman that was the first time he put it up of his own free will constantly waiting the refs approval.ElectroClaret wrote:Had his arms round Barnes waist.

Re: Was it a penalty?
So we should have had that penalty, then we would have won 3 - 2, it's sickening it is.

But he would have if we hadn't scored. The lino still had his flag waving.

The lino definitely thought it was. Whether the ref would have agreed and given it, maybe we'll never know, but thankfully it very quickly became irrelevant. UTC

Re: Was it a penalty?
2...2 thats the point either way.
Re: Was it a penalty?
1. It was a pen
2. The Lino was convinced, that's why he kept flagging after jones said no. The lino was in a much better position (I had the same view)
3. I missed the frigging goal as I was watching the ref and the lino

Re: Was it a penalty?
Dark Cloud has it.
If the ref hadn't awarded a pen, it would've been the mistake of the season. Lino going mental, he was THAT convinced. Surely the ref HAS to talk to him to find out why he was so convinced, as opposed to simply over-ruling him?
Fortunately, we were professional enough to play on, and got what we deserved.

Sweet strike from big sam.glad we werent awarded a penalty.......we could have missed. And well done sam for the headed goal. I missed that though arguing with a bloke who said we should have had a penalty earlier.Dark Cloud wrote:I think about 2/3 of the crowd missed the frigging goal through looking at the lino (and the ref) I bloody did!!! Me too, thought ref had given fk against Barnes, turns out he was pointing to the centre circleRic_C wrote:1. It was a pen

Re: Was it a penalty?
Clear penalty unless ref was playing advantage which he did on a few occasions.Or he bottled sending a WBA player off not sure if was on a yellow?

Re: Was it a penalty?
Ill stand corrected if thats the case on motd. But we scored anyway...what would you have said if the referee over ruled the goal with an awarded penalty for the percieved infringement..and we missed the penalty??? 1...2 could have been the outcome and youd have all been whinging the goal should have stood.Silkyskills1 wrote:Blatant penalty.

A penalty wasn't awarded, but it was a penalty to be given. Judge for yourself.

Re: Was it a penalty?
Stone wall penalty on Barnes and looked a decent shout for handball from Tarkowski's shot subsequently.

Re: Was it a penalty?
Because all decisions are torn apart and analysed to death by the media afterwards, most PL referees understandably want to see a full garroting or at least a limb being totally ripped off before awarding a penalty. A bit of light hearted "rough and tumble" otherwise known as play fighting, especially if it involves a chap well known for diving, cheating and altogether falling to the ground at the drop of a pair of prostitute's panties is rarely going to get the penalty he actually deserves. So again I say, well done Sam Vokes for not hanging about to see!

Did we object when big sam scored against leicester....erm with his hand or when he scored from the penalty spot against swansea, when he himself handled the ball?

Yes it was.
Credit to Barnes for getting up, especially considering the stick he's had on here for going down to easily.

Re: Was it a penalty?
It was A foul and would have merited a penalty but good refereeing allowed advantage to continue and score.
