SD's best signing
Who would you pick?
I'm tempted to say Joey but could perhaps be persuaded to a different option.

Heaton, been a brilliant keeper, instills trust and belief in the players in front of him and the fans.

Juke.
Re: SD's best signing
Heaton Jones and Arfield as they were the players that were added to the team that started us on the way to where we are now after mere survival in the Championship for 3 years post relegation in 2011 and cost £00.00d in transfer fees.

Heaton and Keane
Truly premier league class, brilliant for us, worth £40m combined, credit to the club and England internationals.

Good choice, his goals helped keep Brum up, ultimately helping to send Rovers down.Saxoman wrote:Juke.

I was close to saying Heaton, perhaps I am swayed but the impact Barton has made both times.Sidney1st wrote:Heaton, been a brilliant keeper, instills trust and belief in the players in front of him and the fans.

Lovely lofted ball through for Birmingham to score their winner against Bristol City. A goal that wiped the smile right off the faces of those R*vers' fans at Griffin Park.Down_Rover wrote:Go with him for the shortlist. Played his part in Rovers downfall

Probably Steven Reid, Jutkiewicz and Sordell to spearhead a PL charge for survival.

Arfield, who would have thought? With Boyd has given us more balance than we had. Strong foundations, strong jaw.
If you're talking quality, I agree with Heaton and Keane and in 12 months I'll be adding Tarks to this list after he's played sufficient first team games for everyone (well ,maybe just a majority) to be convinced one way or the other.

My immediate thought when I saw the question was Arfield.

It's hard to see it as a light hearted quip given your relentless diatribe towards Dyche. So rightly or wrongly I saw it as another unnecessary dig at him.KRBFC wrote:It was a joke, chill out it's really not that serious...

You did right, because it's not as though along with his alleged joke that he's going to post about what he thinks is Dyche's best signing.

Heaton without a doubt-back bone of our defence. Formerly at Bristol City and conceded over 100 goals in his last season. Great relationship I sense with SD. Best keeper since Alan Stevenson at the Turf
Re: SD's best signing
Any of Heaton, Jones or Arfield. If I had to pick one it would be Scott Arfield.

Thomson was a very fine keeper(IMO). Really hard to compare him with his successors because there's so little video evidence.tim_noone wrote:Not thomson then.....

Heaton.
His saves have kept us up.
5th in the "clean sheet" league says it all.

For free? Perm any from Heaton, Arfield, or Jones. Two automatic promotions as near ever presents from all three of them is not bad going as all.
Paid for? Andre Gray. Did exactly what he was brought here for; a Golden Boot too.

Hendrick is coming along nicely ...could prove to be Dyche's best signing,I'm also hoping we see some quality from Brady

Well that's your problem for jumping on the defensive instantly. It was a joke, stop taking it so seriously, calm down.taio wrote:It's hard to see it as a light hearted quip given your relentless diatribe towards Dyche. So rightly or wrongly I saw it as another unnecessary dig at him.

Re: SD's best signing
Very difficult.
Heaton is the best player, but best signing.......
I always thought Tom was an outstanding goalkeeper, but when we got Arfield it was a case of Scott who? Been released by Huddersfield!!!!!!!!
Who'd have thought he could contribute so much to what we have achieved these last 4 years.

Re: SD's best signing
Heaton, Keane, Arfield, Gray... take your pick. Tarky might turn out to be a great signing over the next 12 months as well.
Joey was tremendous last season but I actually thought he was quite poor this season. His suspension has allowed us to play Westwood and he looks a different level to what Joey was offering us.

Re: SD's best signing
The list is rightly getting longer but I still think it's Scott Arfield, surplus to requirements at Huddersfield at the time and now a Premier League player.

For me though, the skip, Tom Heaton.

Tom Heaton. Foundation and fundamental to our success.
Re: SD's best signing
What a cracking question that is too hard for me to answer with one name. Gray top scorer to get us promoted last year, Heaton absolute stunning as leader and keeper, Arfield free, Barton free, Ward sorted out the back 4 by pushing Mee to CB, Lowton replaced Tripps and fits into the side, Keane truly amazing to think we have an England CB playing for us worth £25 Million plus. I am sure we could list the failures easily too but the plus side of life far outweighs any negativity. UTC

Re: SD's best signing
I think Heaton, Keane, Arfield need to be right up there, they are the foundation.
Looks like Keane could be lining up alongside Van Dijk in a Liverpool shirt next season - that's a hell of a CB pairing.
* Forgot it was Eddie who signed Mee.

Heaton, Arfield, Keane, Ward, Lowton, Gray, Barton
All excellent, all worth far more than they cost, all ridiculously great value for money.
EDIT - how could I forget David Jones? Up there with Heaton and Arfield

Re: SD's best signing
Heaton. Pure class.
Ward a very close second for me. Since he got his chance he's been ever so consistent. Never less than a 7/10.
