Burnley v WBA

Post by thethrostle63 » Mon May 08, 2017 10:21 pm

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind me crashing your forum but I was part of the Baggies crowd from Saturdays game. I've been to a few grounds this season but Turf Moor is one of the best. Never been before and I thought the atmosphere in the Fishwick Stand especially was fantastic. Good bit of banter and both sets of fans making a great noise. Cheers. All the best for next season.(for both teams)

Nice to hear and thank you for taking the trouble to comment..It was a good atmosphere on Saturday and the Baggies fans contributed to that.
All the best for next season.

Yeah I was surprised by the 4-0 scoreline myself but that's the Baggies-consistently inconsistent!

The only time that I've disliked West Brom was when Simon Garner played for them.

Apart from that I've not minded them.

Cheers thethrostle63.

Ha ha. Yep highest ground in England but I was thinking Turf Moor was high up-til we started going downhill. I don't think I fancy the walk back up :)

Going back a bit then. I can't see us scoring that many now. It took us 8 games to score 2!! I think the rivalry with Wolves wasn't the same back then. It was always Villa.

No Con, just the Burnley players names spelling police.

Although I did once put 'Trevor Stevens' up on this board. I was absolutely distraught and it took two weeks of therapy to get over it.

Thomson had the mare of all mares that day at West Brom - we were the better side up to the first goal and then it all went wrong. Arthur Bellamy scored close to the end to keep up the record of having scored in every game. The only time I've seen us concede 8 also.

Sometimes we say it only seemed like yesterday.......that game seemed so long ago. 50 years! Omg.

Just checked the archives for the result ,and brought back the memory of bumping into the leicsester fans on their way back from man city,,possibly an m6 service station.they lost 6...0 .two sets of totally dejected supporters.

The Hawthorns is a terrible ground for us we have lost a semi final their i think it was Peter Noble that scored for Swindon god rest his soul
and only seen one draw their and that was in the cup about eight seasons back cant think of a ground that as miserly to us a part from Ipswich may be

It's not a good ground for us now but prior to that 8-1 defeat in 1967/68 we'd had a run of nine games without defeat there, six wins and three draws. When I started watching Burnley, West Brom and Leicester were considered our lucky grounds.
