Wednesday racing
1 50 REQUINTO DAWN 3/1 win bet
FLOSS THE HOSS 25/1 win bet
This race has been won 17 times from 20 by horses drawn in stalls 1 to 5…only 1 winner was a debutant.
REQUINTO DAWN is drawn in 5 and may have been beaten by a potentially smart 2yo last time at muss and was conceding 4lbs.
FLOSS THE HOSS was badly drawn on debut and on that running has the beating of the fancied EMILIA JAMES in this race who was
Better drawn that day and drawn poorly today in the 9 box. FLOSS THE HOSS is 25/1 here because of a poor run at brighton last time.
Brighton is a strange track and I am willing to forgive the run at this price, especially as Sylvester de souse is booked to ride.
3 00 EL ASTRONAUTE 4/1 STAN JAMES
Perfectly drawn for run style…bang in form and a course and distance winner.
6 05 ZOPHILLY 20/1 EW ...BET VICTOR
Made my notebook when a 2yo and followed this one since…yet to win but ran an encouraging race last time on seasonal debut over course and distance
And with a strong light weight jockey booked and a favourable wide draw and falling handicap mark can get involved here at a decent price.
7 25 WELLIESINTHEWATER 25/1 EW...generally
Made my notebook over course and distance 3 runs ago when quickening up really well to win…..followed that up then had 5 weeks off before running poorly….now fully fit and running in this valuable race it is quite possible that the break was to get the horse right for this race….price appeals ew.

Re: Wednesday racing
I nearly went with that as a bet today dom...just concerned the ground may be too quick...it was good when winning previously at track....the sire Jeremy is a mud lark....if the ground isnt good to firm today thats a bet for me...I am timing first race or 2 before getting involved.

Re: Wednesday racing
ta happy
The weeks golf - TPC Sawgrass starts tomorrow . I already shared this with happy but will put here in case anyone else is interested on a golf flutter
This is a very strong field – I could pick out 20 to back and make a case for them.
Good start needed - not easy to come from too far behind here (Fowler’s win in 2015 a possible exception). Possible advantage for early traps on Thurs before the course dries out and the greens get fast. Course improvements have made it tougher in places
Russell Knox – Could have gone very close last year but for a 3rd round mare at the iconic 17th when he hit 3 balls in the water. His 2016 figures went 68 67 80 68. He still finished top 20. This means he is very capable of playing very well here. Won twice on tour last year. This season form has been poor but understood he made a lot of equipment changes. If this has settled then his 11th place at the RBC Heritage last month might be indicative that he is back on track. I back him at 150 to win and will also take 5/1 for a top 20 finish
Dustin Johnson – The best in the world currently – no doubt. Putting it simply - if he plays to his best then he will win. Sometimes he doesn’t play well and he still wins. He has been dominant all season and the rest of the big guns have not found the levels they are capable of consistently like he has. Few weaknesses if any. Wind was a leveler this weekend at the Wells Fargo and he topped the final 2 rounds after getting caught in the worst of the weather. Came 2nd after nearly missing the cut
Fowler – Won in 2015. He is a class act, drives it long and accurately, great touch on and around fast greens and was my Masters pick. He didn’t show up on the final day when it was his for the taking. Haven’t seen him since but I reckon he is sore from that 22/1
Justin Thomas – T3 last year. Won 3 times this year already. Recall temperament let him down at the WGC Mexico when he seemed to blow a gasket when up against the big guns. As if he expected better of himself and didn’t quite measure up on the day and got frustrated. Signs he getting back to early season form and when he is on it he is top drawer – I take him at 30/1
Patrick Cantley. I really think there is a win sometime in this guy been watching him since a 2nd to Hadwin at the Valspar coming back from major back injury. Since then he went 39th , 3rd & 14th . Was a major talent as a youngster. I take him to win straight at 100/1
Long Outsiders backed for a top 20
Seung-yul Noh – T5th last week at the Wells Fargo and caught the eye. Couple of other top 10’s this year including Pebble Beach. Played solidly & drives it long enough. He’s 250/1 and for the top 20 it’s 11/1
Smylie Kaufman – Went close at a couple of events last year and drives long and straight when he’s on it. Green shoots of recovery in his form including T5th last week . He 300/1 so 10/1 for a top 20 finish
Considered & Left (for now) – Hadwin & Kisner
Adam Hadwin – Solid driving, scrambling and par 5 performance stats. Started well last year but faded 70 70 74 73. Won the Valspar this year already
Kisner – MC here last year. This season always sailing close to a win… apart from this week at the Wells – the wind meant that many struggled. Has 4 top 5’s and not many weaknesses. Will also check Top 10/20 prices
Also left 4 talented Brits that could go well… Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrell Hatton, Ross Fisher, Matt Fitzpatrick. First 3 I backed at the Masters for top 10 and it didn’t happen. Maybe they lack experience for here – leaving will watch in play

Re: Wednesday racing
I had a £2.50 e/w treble on Yogis Girl/Taexali/Yorkidding.
Not a bad return, but with two of the three getting done on the line at 7s and 14s I'm bloody gutted!

Dustin Johnson right now is playing brilliant...ever since harman got him to practice his wedge game really....should be great viewing over the weekend and I bet there will be a few sleepless nights about that 17th.

I got 25/1 on Welliesinthewater early this morning, thanks again Happy.
Regarding the golf, we had a few pints of Guinness with Butch Harman at Carnoustie the year Paul Lawrie won. He told us Lee Westwood was a real grafter but Darren Clarke was the most likely to win a major.
Knows his stuff old Butch!
