Checkatrade Trophy

Post by 1989_claret » Fri May 12, 2017 11:21 am

League One and League Two clubs vote by a majority of 67% to adopt this season's Checkatrade Trophy format for the next two years.

Could Blackburn face their own B team?

With Blackburn being in League One I assume they can only field their senior team, as League One and Two clubs under the old format were the only ones participating in the competition.
If they were a Championship side they could have, but as they will be playing in League One next season it'll be their senior squad.
Blackburn are in League One.

I would fancy the under 23s to beat the 1st team

I would think it's very likely they won't be able to maintain cat 1 with their new income.

New income is £7 million.
Current running costs excluding wages is apparently £11 million.
Academy at Cat 1 status, for the lower end of Cat 1, requires about £2 million a year minimum.

Somethings going to lose out somewhere.
