Calling 118118 to find a phone number costs £8.98! Just seen it on 'Rip-off Britain'. Other suppliers for such services are charging extortionate amounts too. It's worth telling older people who use these services rather than searching the internet for numbers, as they are particularly vulnerable to these rip-offs and often don't realise why their phone bills are sky high.

Free market, if people shopped around the rip-offs would lose business and compete...

If you have access to the internet you can find phone numbers for free.

I've no idea if this counts as "On-line shopping." ;)

Slightly off topic, but those two jerks on the 118 118 advert are the biggest ***** on TV.

Few years ago I came home from work to find these through the letter box. They went straight into the recycling

The point I was making is that those elderly people who used to use directory enquiries free of charge and don't use the internet are vulnerable when it comes to using 118118 and suchlike, because they then get huge bills.
