Trippier to move back North?
Hearing that Tripps isn't a happy bunny living down South, would love to see him back here.
But i wonder if we could afford him now? not sure of his contract length left ,as Spurs have a wage structure could we get anywhere close?
Just a thought.

Re: Trippier to move back North?
He's finally being given a chance at Spurs and having an impact. He'd be mad to move now.

Re: Trippier to move back North?
Walker is very likely to leave this summer.
Trippier will possibly be given a fair crack at being first choice by Pochettino.
Trips is currently rumoured to be on £35-40k a week and will easily be able to get more IF he moved clubs.
Out of interest why would you want him back when we have Lowton?

Probably because he's better than Lowton.

Is he though?
I know about players getting better in peoples memories when they are no longer playing for us, but Lowton has been quite solid this season hasn't he and received a fair amount of praise.
He's also got a lot more PL experience than Trippier and is also a different type of defender.

Claret tinted specs and all that, especially the way he celebrates and show passion. One of my favourite players in any team.

And I like Lowts - he's improved massively this season.
Tripps is the best player I have seen for Burnley in my 40 years of supporting the club.

Heard that he was on shopping lists at both Everton and Stoke with Stoke the favourites to sign him. However, things have changed with the uncertainty surrounding Kyle Walker so don't be surprised if he doesn't sign a new deal at Spurs.

Trippier is better than Lowton for me, that said, Lowton is continually improving and I've been very impressed with him. As for leaving Spurs, can't see why he would if Walker leaves, strange one.

Re: Trippier to move back North?
Kyle Walker is supposedly a done deal for Man City isn't he? If so then Tripper would likely be first choice right back for a season of playing at Wembley, and in the Champions League. Why on earth would he move?
He was one of my favourite players. He was sometimes suspect defending, particularly against quick wingers (I remember Josh King making him look poor on the Turf), but going forwards he is the best we've had. I also like Lawton now though, but would say Trippier is easily better with all things considered.

Re: Trippier to move back North?
I think Lowton has got better and better this season and is proving to be a good replacement for Trippier, but Tripps was Tripps with his own unique style and that was impossible to replace.

Re: Trippier to move back North?
Not sure it's just as simple as that. When he played for us we were very good at turning situations where we were pressured into a good platform for attack. He was vital in stepping inside his man, keeping possession and being a good general outball when the back four got in trouble. His crossing was also superb and for a short lad he was fantastic in the air. Defensively perhaps similar to Lowton (although I myself don't rate him) but superior in every other aspect.Sidney1st wrote:

Re: Trippier to move back North?
Trips is much better than Lowton. Lowton is quite steady as you go, but Trippier is much much better on the ball and his crossing is possibly the up there with the best in the league. I also seem to remember Trippier making a few crucial headed clearances on the near post.

I can still see his run + cross for Ings header at Old Trafford!
although I'm happy with Lowton I can't think of another player who would consistently provide the crosses that Trippier did and can!

Re: Trippier to move back North?
From memory Trippier was certainly no better than Lowton at defending but from attacking aspect far superior. As said above different types of players. Spurs are spoilt for choice with attacking full backs.

When I've seen him play for Spurs he has been twice as good at defending as he was at the Turf.
If we ever get the chance to re-sign him we have to take it.

Re: Trippier to move back North?
Trippier is certainly better in an attacking side like Spurs though. Lowton being a steady defender is more suited to Dyche style especially with us losing Keane for next year.
Tripps improved as a defender under Dyche but some game never got over the halfway line. At his best when under Dyche and head Charlie Austin to head home more often than not.

Re: Trippier to move back North?
Lowton's had a good season.
Particularly the second half off it.
But it's not Claret tinted specs to say Tripps is better.
From what I've seen of him this season, he's sounder defensively now.
But going forward and his crossing is better than Lowton's.
Only player in recent times that could come close to Tripps crossing was Wade.
If Walker leaves, Tripps will surely be first choice for Spurs next year.

Re: Trippier to move back North?
I like Lowton, but he's certainly not the great defender some people are making out here.
He was at fault for WBA's first goal when his poor positioning allowed a simple diagonal to go over his head, and again for Bournemouth's winner his poor positioning meant the ball floated over his head, leaving Long to come over to the touchline and cover, leaving Tarkowski on his own in the middle. Goal.
Lowton deals with those balls over his head, then those goals don't happen. It used to be Trippier's weakness, but his strengths far, far outweighed it. Lowton's don't.

With uncertainty over Walker I guess this may just be a nudge from Tripps' agent that they may want to improve his deal or risk losing two right backs.

We were never negative while tripps was at the turf, I'd love to see him back, although lowts is an able replacement and hopefully still improving, he's put 2 or 3 delicious crosses in over the last few weeks but maybe struggles a bit with consistency, but don't most.

Re: Trippier to move back North?
Would we be happy for the club to break the record transfer on a full back just to try and get him back as I reckon that is what it would take.
For me the answer is yes, definitely although I doubt it would happen. Can't see why he would go to Everton as they seem to just keep producing full backs. Stoke would pay him a good wage is much nearer to his home than London and he would probably be first choice in a team that is highly unlikely to be getting relegated, so would probably be a good choice if he isn't going to be 1st choice at Spurs next year.

Had an eye on Trippier when he played against us this season at the Turf, he seems to have improved in all aspects and was much sharper than when he played for us Much better than Lowton in an attacking sense although Lowton has improved considerably during his time with us.

I think it was McCann who was promoted to near Demi-god status when out with his knee injury during our first PL adventure.
Ings currently holds it too.
Re: Trippier to move back North?
Ings holds it because he was a great player for us. One of the best we have ever had.
Not sure on McCann - vast majority of fans could see he was on the decline.
Tripps - brilliant for us, never injured, great attitude and looks like a managers dream type of player to me.

Everton have been dreadful since Coleman broke his leg. He was rumoured to be leaving before that, so an upgrade on what's left is a probability.

I know it's getting silly season with transfer talk etc, but I can't see any reason why Tripps would want to leave the second best side in the country. I'd be staggered if he wasn't at Tottenham next season and for many season's to come.

Absolutely love it if we could land Tripps back at the Turf. Gutted if he chose Stoke as he can play at a far better team higher up the league; maybe a team like, say, Spurs? He'd be daft to leave them now, especially with the Walker rumours circulating.

Re: Trippier to move back North?
Matt Lowton had improved game on game .He is getting the hang of playing in a tight back four.
He was poor early season and I was one of his biggest critics with his drifting out of position.
For those with short memories ,drifting into the centre was also Tripps Achilles heel.
We had a history of resigning stars in the past but I feel we now need to move on.
We do need new blood to replace players but not our right back

Re: Trippier to move back North?
Can't believe some fans wouldn't want him. People talk about players having no loyalty and yet their is nothing more fickle than fans. Tripps was the best fullback I've seen play for us, he's getting some games at Tottenham and is getting plaudits from all the pundits.
With the way Ward, Mee and Keane have played this year Lowton is the weakest in the current back four regardless of how he has improved. Trippier was arguably our best player while he was here and I know we've come a long way but flipping heck, we haven't come that far.

Purely from a defensve point of view I'd say Brian Laws was head and shoulders above both Trippier & Lowton.

Its a squad game. Get him back at rb and get a decent striker and we have gained ourselves an extra 10 goals a season. In the Championship season when we were runners up he was absolutely awesome and firmly believe he is now even better. One of my favourite recent players.

Looks like this ship has sailed as Walker going to city it seems.
Pochetino has finally decided he is good enough for their first team so can't see him swopping second / maybe first for a relegation/ mid table battle. Shame tho as he's the best right back I've ever seen play for Burnley.

Re: Trippier to move back North?
He's played 20+ times this season in all competitions for Spurs, the second best team in the country. And he's improving all the time. Heading towards his peak as a footballer, on no planet does he move back to Burnley unfortunately. I'd be surprised if he moved anywhere below the likes of Everton in 7th, if he does move. From there you have a fairly large drop in quality to the likes of Southampton, Stoke, West Brom etc and I think he's better than that. Might be slightly harsh on Southampton actually but they're a long way behind Everton in 7th. He wouldn't be a bad shout for Man United with Valencia getting on a bit - he'd give Ibra a few taps ins with his bonce that's for sure!

The thoughts of Kieran Trippier dropping inch-perfect crosses just behind the back 4 of our opponents keeps dancing in my head. Yon Dasher and Dancer and Cupid and Vixen. Basher and Thrasher and (somebody) and Blixen. Or, just wake me up when it's over.
