I stayed until the very end. Boyd stayed on the pitch with his kids and didn't look happy at all today. Bit odd staying out when the rest are in the changing room.

Boyd and Arfield were both last to leave the pitch today.

Maybe it's time for Arfield to go but I'll miss him, for sure. He comes across as a great lad and he's been a good player for us over the years. Some brilliant memories. I think Boyd in particular can continue to be a useful player for us so I'd be disappointed to see him go.

we need to continue the progression, sentimentality has to go out of the window. Neither player should be a regular starter for us next season

But, they've both been superb for us over the years

Really hope that Arfield isn't going anywhere. He's a top player for us, real epitome of the squad, and he's had more decent games this season than bad ones. He's not a flashy or spectacular player, but he's a fine technician who does the basics and works phenomenally hard. We need players like this and we need to keep the spine of the squad together.

That said, I did notice than it was him and Keane who were right at the back when the players went round at the end, detached from the main group, as though soaking it all up.

Arfield may as well have not bothered today, not sure how he stayed on the full 90. Don't mind him staying as a squad player but if he's starting games for us next season we'll be in big trouble.

Scott Arfield has been a great acquisition for us and we likewise have been good for him. He has a heart as big as a lion's but he strikes me as a lad who needs to be playing not sitting on a bench. Like many on here I saw him play in Ireland in 2013 and couldn't really see what he might offer. Good job my judgement wasn't taken into consideration. His body language at the end of the game and extremely slow walk around the ground suggests to me he might have played his last game for us. I have been wrong before though.

I like Arfield and Boyd, surprisingly. I don't think either are PL standard though. Why would it be Arfields last game? He isn't in the final year of his contract Is he? Not seen much about him leaving apart from the link to the MLS months ago.

I've yet to see any evidence to suggest that Gudmondsson and Brady are £14m (minimum) better value in the team

The team selection today was poor.Defour.Boyd.O'Neill.Ageyi and JBG should have started .All four midfielders particularly Arfield were sure.Scottie can not play cm and lost nearly every 50/50 challenge.
We need George Boyds endevour and a two yr deal is surely affordable.

The relegated teams are so often full of Journeymen who just never look like they give a sh*t. George Boyd gives 100% every game for us and despite not being a world beater he's every inch a Premier League player. I hope to see see him in a Claret shirt next season.

We probably need to score more goals next year if we want to stay up again, so upgrades out wide are required. Whether we can attract and afford superior replacements to Arfield and Boyd is a different question though.

It would be a massive mistake to let Boyd leave. To me in our present system he's our most important outfield player and deserves a 2 year contract. I think the lad's heart is with Burnley and hopefully the situation gets resolved.

Two fantastic players and servants who've played their part in our recent success. A little surprised at both leaving as good enough players to play a part from the bench as part of the squad.

Interesting summer ahead.

If Boyd and Arfield leave, along with the forgotten man Kightly, it must mean we're having an overhaul of our wingers. Brady has to start next season with JBG his back up. Two new wingers needed then. Who do we think is realistic? Should make for an interesting summer.

Arfield was poor yesterday but he always wants the ball and for that alone he'll be missed. We've had a few wingers over the years who just disappear from games and shy away from the ball. Not Scotty though.

And Boyd is marathon man. Feels crazy to allow him to leave when he's been such a mainstay of our starting 11 this season. However, if we want to progress we need to upgrade. Hope he does well wherever he ends up.

Boyd isn't sure to leave. Hope they can work something out.

http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sp ... year_deal/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Looks like he's been offered a 1-year contract with the option of another year but he wants a 2 year contract. He's 31 so I wouldn't have any problem in us giving him a 2-year contract. He's been very good for us and he's obviously very important to Dyche.

Boyd - Dyche obviously likes him and trusts him, he's generally played when fit. Given that, two year deal is an easy decision, can easily afford next season and is proven in Championship if we go down.

Not sure getting rid of both Boyd and Scotty is the most sensible move personally.

With the other possible departures we may be looking at half of the regular first team departing.

At the same time we have players like Brady still finding their feet. If the players we bring in also take time to adjust to SD's way of playing, fitness levels etc then having players like Boyd and / or Scotty around will be key.

SD has had to turn to Boyd and Arfield a lot more than any of us would have expected this year given the new signings we made. Same with Barton and Dean Marney before suspension and injury.

Without any of these 4 players on the books it's a big risk that he does not have his default / trusty players to go back to. I'm not sure it's a risk worth taking for the sake of 12 months contract.

That said only SD will know the full story in respect of individual player situations and what they are asking for.

We have Brady and JBG.

Both are upgrades on Boyd and Arfield but need to prove themselves yet (JBG in terms of fitness) but I would be happy with them as our wingers.

If we can attract better than these two, great. If not SD has to decide whether SA and GB are adequate back up or if he needs to upgrade them to give better options.

Maybe, but they are already at the club and we arguably need four wingers to cover injuries and provide competition. We also need a natural right footer to add balance.

Although I can understand the arguments being made to keep both Arfield and Boyd
I do think we're reached a point in our development which requires us replacing them both.
Hopefully with better players who have more ability going forward and creating
chances for others as well as scoring a few.
If memory serves me well I don't think Boyd and Arfield have scored more than a few goals
between them and/or created that many assists. And I doubt they'll be able to improve much either.

Great servants to the club over the last 3 or 4 years but their better years are behind them.

Our assist stats are dreadful.

Steven Defour 3
Andre Gray 3
Sam Vokes 3
Ashley Barnes 2
Johann Berg Gudmundsson 2
Robbie Brady 2
Matthew Lowton 2
Dean Marney 2
George Boyd 1
Jeff Hendrick 1
Michael Keane 1
Stephen Ward 1

Scotty hasn't had a single assist this season.

But we've scored 39 goals. Have we really scored 16 penalties/direct free kicks and own goals?
