Back Masseuse
Can anyone recommend a good back masseuse?
Woke up yesterday with the worse back pain ever in upper right back. Subsided a bit this morning and now back even worse. Top right and down the upper right arm. Also in lower neck now.
Not sure how or where its come from. Perhaps posture (drove from to Birmingham, Bournemouth, Swansea, London and Leeds this week) and slept in different hotels. Also work on computers. But haven't done much more or any different to usual?
Anyone recommend a good place to get it seen to and any good exercises (read a million conflicting ones through google).
Anyone experience of pain in that area of the back and what was the cause and recovery time?
Had bad back pain in the lower back before but never as severe as this. Can barely rotate my head or sit comfortably. Typing this hasnt helped!

Re: Back Masseuse
If it isn't a regular thing I would try a hot stones massage first in any of the local places. Get good deals on group on. Often an hour for £20.
It sorted me out when I couldn't walk.
If that don't work then try a physio

Re: Back Masseuse
YEs must add never had the pain before so dont know if that dictates the treatment?
Re: Back Masseuse
See a specialist, obviously, but having weak or unbalanced shoulders can cause lots of grief that manifests as back pain. Years ago I had the sharpest pain in my upper left back that was a result of a weak shoulder and brought on by terrible posture. Pain was gone within an hour when properly treated.

Re: Back Masseuse
Any reason why it has to be a female? You're narrowing your options.
I know several people who have been to Stuart Murray on St James St, and have been pleased with the outcome. He's sorted me out twice, and his rates are v reasonable too.

Re: Back Masseuse
It could be a trapped or inflamed nerve between the vertebrae at the top of your spine....i have had it a couple of times and it is bloody painful. Can be caused by stress or even driving in one position for long periods but get a specialist to look at it Cricketfield before you start messing with massage or physios..

Stuart Murray is excellent. He sorted my back/neck and shoulders out after I suffered a serious accident (it was around £33 per session I seem to remember)

Re: Back Masseuse
It sounds like it may be Spondylosis, which involves changes in the bones, discs and
joints in the neck. In my case this resulted in a trapped nerve in my neck and my
mobility was pretty much zero and the pain was nothing short of excruciating.
If it's anything like that, you have my utmost sympathy.
As stated above, get a proper diagnosis before proceeding any further - you can't
mess about with ailments like that.
Best of luck with it.
PS Janet Stephens on Bank Parade sorted me out with CranioSacral Therapy - very enlightening
and very very effective.

Thanks. Been to the NHS Drop in clinic and she has suggested although its nothing 'sinister' its likely to be a few weeks before its 100%. Most likely caused by posture and work type.
Interestingly she said there is no such thing as good posture per se just important to vary the posture and movement.
Advised that going to a private physio wont harm it but that regular neck / back specific exercises will be equally effective.
Thanks for the advice so far.
Excruciating and out of nowhere.
