Zaha signs new deal at Palace
Signed a new 5 year deal allegedly worth £110,000 per week in this ever increasing mad Premier League gravy train.
Never thought of him as anything other than a speed merchant who very occasionally puts in a good ball or scores a wonder goal. Too inconsistent and not unlike Tom Ince, he can be unplayable BUT quickly fades away when decisions go against him - a bit of a sulky player.
With an upper limit of possibly around a third of that, I think we need to be realistic in our expectations of transfer dealings again this summer.

Sam Allardyce said a couple of weeks ago that referees needed to protect him - had Sam not noticed how often he goes down trying to win penalties?

I really hope Palace struggle again next season. I'd love them to get relegated with that wage bill. There'd be a supermarket on Selhurst Park within the decade.

Biggest cheat in the PL and with the workrate of a sloth. There's a great player in there somewhere if he sorted out his attitude.

Apparently tripped over the door on his way in, and grabbed his face and rolled around on the floor when offered the pen to sign his contract.

As above, he can be unplayable at times, certainly has been against us. We got it spot on recently in that 0-2 win down there, didn't give him an inch and a couple of 'welcome to the game' challenges early doors from Ward and then Flanagan when he came on. Apart from looking for a pen, he did next to nowt.

Holtyclaret "workrate of a sloth"
Watch again the winning goal by Barnes at the Turf. The man who chases back all the length of the pitch and almost gets to Barnes is Zaha!
I don't like his antics in always looking for free-kicks and penalties, nor his abuse of officials but he is a worker for the side.

I've seen him hide more times than not. Potentially a world beater in the Bale mould, capable of brilliance, but far too inconsistent in his efforts and good games.

I think he's a diver, but he's also a hell of a player.

Re: Zaha signs new deal at Palace
I think he's had an excellent season, as for our match, he was on-side and fouled by Heaton which could have made the outcome of that game very different, we did do a good job on him for the rest of the game mind.
It's quite a statement for any incoming manager.

A one footed diver but fair play if Parrish wants to pay silly money it's his funeral.

Re: Zaha signs new deal at Palace
He had the potential to be a very very good player. Certainly good enough for England had he not decided to have chosen Ivory Coast, but far too lazy.
That's probably why he did choose the Ivory Coast over England and why he's signed a 5 year contract - no ambition to be better than what he currently is and is just happy to pick up the money for doing naff all.

Re: Zaha signs new deal at Palace
There's a reason he only lasted one season at United, even Anderson lasted 8 seasons !!
Re: Zaha signs new deal at Palace
I'd have agreed with most of you last year, however he's had a very good season this time around and looks finally to be offering somthing far more consistently. He's much better than anyone we have in the wide positions.
