Better to share the goals between strikers?

Post by Spijed » Wed May 31, 2017 2:32 pm

Where it's not possible for smaller/lesser teams in the Prem to get a top out-and-out striker have we now developed a good template for other clubs to follow?

Between them, our strikers scored 25 goals this season which kept us on the front foot in our quest to stop up. It seems to have worked very well in that we never had a period during the season where we were struggling to find the net.

When one player didn't score for a few matches someone else did and that seems to have given us the impetus throughout all the games.

When you look at the relegated sides they were all too reliant on one player and it didn't work for them.

I'd say we struggled to find the net for half of the season baring in mind our away form...

That's every other game though, not exactly a lengthy period of time.

Far better to have several players contributing rather than just relying on one. We weren't afraid of putting "arguably" our biggest goal threat (gray) on the bench.

Its been mentioned on here before that we were a better team without Austin because we weren't relying on him.

Look at Rovers, went from overly relying on Rhodes and the first full season without him they get relegated.

I thought just the same.

25 goals between two strikers in a first season in the Premier would be an amazing achievement, which is effectively what we did.
