Two best lines so far have been from Angus robertson and Tim farron. JC not doing as well as he has been doing so far
Re: The political leaders debate tonight.
Tim Farron drives me mad with his constant interruptions, and his insistence on telling us all a personal story about every policy is tiresome.
What a fantastic choice we all face next week.

Amber Rudd states that the Winter Fuel payment will not be paid to billionaires.

why do they need to consult with charities working with the elderly before bringing in such a policy?
They should be honest with the British electorate and admit the truth that they only intend to make the payment to those currently on the poverty line.

Paul Nuttall seems to think no one is calling it what it is, which is "Islamic extremism". Who the **** isn't calling it that?

Re: The political leaders debate tonight.
I am watching it now and the main question everyone should be asking is...'Where is Theresa May'? We all know exactly why she is not there, she wouldn't be able to handle it, she would be well out of her depth.
As Caroline Lucas and Tim Farron have just pointed out...she called the [unnecessary] Election and then ran away from the debate..pathetic beyond belief, and now everyone knows it.
Strong and stable my @r**
Amber Rudd getting loudly laughed at by the audience is something else.

What a rudderless ship (no pun) it would be with any of this lot in charge.
My five year old would have fitted in well in that cat fight.
Blindingly obvious why May missed it. Not sure giving equal air time to the Greens, SNP and Plaid Cymru is appropriate. She would always have been ambushed, rather than genuinely debated. She would have spoken for 10 minutes if she was lucky, and been abused for 60.

Overall opinion appears to be that it damaged May less than if she had been there. Of course, that also highlights how bad May is.

Well she is a 'politician' after all and it is a key aspect of her job. Maybe there is a witch hunt because she has a hell of a lot to answer for. For someone who is strong and stable to not defend her post is an absolute joke, and yet she gets the benefit of the doubt through blind support.CrosspoolClarets wrote:What a rudderless ship (no pun) it would be with any of this lot in charge.

Re: The political leaders debate tonight.
What Corbyn gained was the credibility of showing-up.
He obviously made his decision some time in advance. He is running rings around May which doesn't bode well for future Brexit negotiations.
As a Labour voter I would say fair play to Amber Rudd she did a far better job than May probably would have.
Very damaging evening for May. Still think they'll be the largest single party but they have turned what should have been an academic exercise into a proper head-to-head contest where the overall result is now very much in doubt - a complete shambles on behalf of the Conservatives and the country.

Corbyn is doing well recently, but won't win outright.

Re: The political leaders debate tonight.
Funny and correct at the same time.
I think if Corbyn hadn't have been there then May's absense would have been less damaging to the Tory campaign. By simply turning up Corbyn has out maneuvered May, who had no choice but to skip it after Corbyn confirmed his attendence or she'd have been faced with accusations that she's dancing to Corbyn's tune, or that if she's such a great leader then why is she following Corbyn's example? It was politicking on both sides but in the end Corbyn showed up.

Apart from Tories and Ukip all other parties agree to end the cuts effecting most working class people.
The problem labour has is many old school labour voters will agree with Corbyn on his plans to invest in public services, but cannot get over the immigration policy and therefore won't vote labour. It seems to be the main issues for some people.

Re: The political leaders debate tonight.
It would have been stupid for Theresa May to have turned up for this fairly pointless squabble. As someone said, it would have been open season. Corbyn only turned up at the last minute to capitalise on her absence. It did him no favours and to me he came across as as lightweight as most of the others. Amber Rudd did a fairly good job and managed to quell Corbyn's attempted rants quite well, pointing out that she was hoping to exchange views with her adversary Abbott. Corbyn still comes across to me as Fred Kite.
' Have you ever been to Russia, Mr. Kite?'
' No not yet. It's one place I'd like to go to though. All those cornfields and ballet in the evening.'

'Amber Rudd did a fairly good job'
The popularity of Corbyn appeared far to much for Amber to take, and she wished she was against Abbott. It's worth noting Rudd got jeered numerous times by the neutral crowd. Good job.
