Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood..

Post by hampsteadclaret » Fri Jun 02, 2017 11:43 am

Ronnie was 70 yesterday and Charlie Watts celebrates his 75th birthday today...full marks to the Stones for longevity and a fantastic career and back catalogue.

I know that some people take the mickey out of them these days..I take the opposite view really, they're a lesson for all of us, if you like doing something and you're pretty good at it, then keep going keep playing, you're a long time dead.

This is the Stones [featuring Mick Taylor] at Glastonbury, 2013 - 'Satisfaction'

A mate of mine went to see them in Paris on their Voodoo Lounge Tour, in the mid-'90s. He said he wanted to see them before one of them died.

Two decades + later.....

Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards defy the laws of nature by their continued living. I have seen healthier looking cadavers

I remember Mick Jagger saying he did not expect to live until he was 50, when asked what he would do, when all 'this' was over!

This an excellent live version of 'Gimme Shelter'..the bloke who put it up there describes it as the best version ever - not sure about that, but it's pretty decent...both Charlie and Ronnie on this.
