Re: Is Agyei, Grays replacement?
He hasn't got the proven track record across various levels. We've got the cash to buy proven goalscorers now,as we did when we bought Andre Gray.
Re: Is Agyei, Grays replacement?
Not wanting to put the lad down, but he hasn't from what little I've seen of him.
Re: Is Agyei, Grays replacement?
Yes he is. O'Neill is Defour's replacement as well and I believe Tom Anderson will replace Michael Keane.

List the games you've seen him play that would suggest he's PL standard.

He hasn't got a track record. How could he considering his age and experience.
We've got the cash to buy proven goal scorers. Everyone wants proven goal scorers, but most have more money or are willing to go into hock to get them ahead of us.
Andre Grey had no experience in the Premier League when we bought him. Should we have benched him and got a 'proven' striker.
I don't know how good Agyei will be, neither do you. I do know he's on our books, and he deserves a chance to show us what he can do. He's got the pace, his finishing is yet to show. It's highly unlikely that he is going to replace Gray and score 20 goals this season, so if he is given the chance I hope 'fans' have the patience to let the lad find his feet instead of getting on his back after the first miss.
Lastly, why would youngsters want to come here if they have as little chance of breaking into the first team than if they'd signed for Citeh or Chelsea. As a business we have to start producing a few players of our own, sooner or later BFC has to bite the bullet and let these lads show us what they can do. It was great to see O'neill and Agyei in the squad last season. They might have only had cameos but its a sign to all the youngsters that if they work hard the reward is there. I hope we see a lot more of both this season, if not as starters then definitely coming off the bench. If they do then this club will have just taken a giant step forward.

We bought Gray for the Championship. He got us promoted.

It depends how long it is until Agyei next plays. If he doesn't feature at all until Christmas, he'll be better than Aguero.

Re: Is Agyei, Grays replacement?
we cant expect Dan to be premiership ready just yet. Hope he gets his chance, but we need a striker with expeirience to at least start the season. The rumours are flying round everywhere about Andre leaving but nothing in black and white as yet, maybe he dosnt want to go. i for one would like to see him stay. A lot of people on this site seem so negative about who stays and who goes. And they seem to think they know more than MR. DYCHE himself. Dan Agyei is a good player and i hope we dont sell him as well. No doubt someone will say that hes on his way to wherever for so many pounds next week lol. utc

Re: Is Agyei, Grays replacement?
So when will he be ready. That's the question. What yardstick are we using to say OK, he's in the team. We can't wait for him to score 20 goals, when we hardly offer him the chance to score 1.UpTheBeehole wrote:Send him out on loan again. He's not ready for PL football yet.

I'm not trying to argue that he should be in the team, just stating that if he is never given a chance, he will never be ready.

He's just turned 20, this month. Barely any teams in the PL give starts to players so young and raw. He needs to learn his football first, before he gets thrown in at the deep end for a team expected to be near the bottom of one of the hardest leagues in the world.Colburn_Claret wrote:So when will he be ready. Could be if we sell Gray and don't get in a replacement before deadline day, just imagine him starting against Chelski, even Conte would be laughing in his glass of Barbaresco

By watching him, the lad has pace, good feet and raw ability, he is an upgrade on Gray if he progresses.

Didn't you see his cameo appearance it should have shown you something of what the lad is capable of, he is a class player, and if we don't make use of him someone else will come in for him.

Re: Is Agyei, Grays replacement?
Just wow.
Agyei needs game time, we all know that.
Most of us would rather see him appear from the bench, or start the cup games.
Gray has had grief on this very forum for only scoring 9 league goals this season.
If Agyei is meant to be his replacement we best hope he knocks in double figures pretty quickly or he's doomed.

I'm pretty sure jlup1980 was joking, because people in the past have almost labelled O'Neil as the next Iniesta, because he made a pass.KippaxFifaHD wrote:I'll take some of what you're having if it makes me feel that good about our squad being torn apart

Re: Is Agyei, Grays replacement?
Of course nobody bloods any youngsters, they'd rather buy a ready made from the continent. That doesn't make it right, and it doesn't mean we have to follow suit.UpTheBeehole wrote:He's just turned 20, this month. Barely any teams in the PL give starts to players so young and raw. Forget the name Agyei, because it just confuses the issue here. At what point do we take the step and blood someone from the development squad. What do they have to do to say, yeh he should have a run out for the first team? The argument seems to be they don't have enough experience, but how do they get experience unless we let them.
Lookman isn't the finished article yet, looks really promising. He looked good at Charlton, and one for the future, but only Everton have had the balls to buy him, and play him. He isn't going to start every game for the Toffees, but in a couple of years he may well be. They could be sat on a 25-30 mill player because they decided to give him a chance rather than ship him out to get some experience.

I've answered that many times Sidney as you well know, sometimes one can change a formation to include your best players.
However as with KM and Agyei I am pretty much alone in thinking they are good players.

Re: Is Agyei, Grays replacement?
McDonald couldn't apply himself to play at the top level.
He's a good player but maybe not PL standard, however that could change.
Agyei - plenty of people on here rate him and think he's got potential, you're about the only one though who's expecting him to replace a proven goal scorer.

Re: Is Agyei, Grays replacement?
most obvious thing for me was he looked desperately quiet and naive.
We criticize Vokes for not being a bit more "Ashley Barnes" but Agyei would get absolutely eaten alive by experienced defenders.
Needs to go away somewhere and learn some of the bad arts.
