Didn't expect that one, but I suppose Chelsea have been hindered by the transfer ban at Atletico who wanted Costa.

Strange move. One can only think money motivated as Everton have probably as much chance of success as they do. If Lukaku goes, I can see Everton's goals drying up. Regardless of who has come in.

Suggested yesterday on SSN with news this morning that fee has been agreed. Prior to that I'd just assumed he was off to Chelsea.

Everton shelling out for fun then sell their prize asset ... bad move for MK like I said in another thread and got lambasted, I will say it again Michael Keane is better than Everton and should have joined a top four club

Have Everton got as much chance of success in the Champions league as Man U?
I'm pretty sure Everton didn't have much choice in the matter seen as Lukaku was pretty adamant he was leaving this summer.
Fwiw, I think he'll still finish up at Chelski

Good signing for United at a price less than expected.
Incidentally the only player to expose Keane last season although he did nowt at our place.

I depends how the transfer window pans out. Everton are spending money for fun. Utd struggled to score last season. It could work either way, but Everton without Lukaku will struggle. I'd think. Man Utd are just not anywhere near the formidable side they once were. It's one of them. I just don't see Man Utd as a title contender under Mourinho. Just my opinion, but Everton lose their main man and are doing a major rebuild. Utd haven't been a force really for a few years. If I was Lukaku I'd stay put.

I'd be really surprised if he now ends up at Chelsea. Once a potential deal like this progresses to the point where it's in the media Man United will not let it slip. But if that's wrong it'd be a great call from you.

United have offered to pay half of Wayne Rooney's wages on a free transfer to get the deal done.
It's alright when you're in a position to pay someone 150k a week to leave.
It will be Evertons next step at growing in world football with Rooney shirts selling everywhere. Could even be huge in getting a massive sponsor.

I think Chelsea are struggling to get rid of Costa. I also wouldn't fancy being Conte and leaving him on the bench
Brilliant signing for Utd though. I could see Kane ending up at Utd this/next season.

Everton could have a strong season. Really good manager and being backed by the Board. If they replace Lukaku well they could have their best ever PL finish - being linked with Giroud for a while now and he'd be an excellent signing for them.

United will be some force next season with Lukaku up front. Absolute beast of a striker. Two more signings of his calibre which I think they'll get, and they will be back challenging for the title.
Big loss for Everton can only see them competing for 5th really at best

I can't see Levy selling Kane to another English team. If Kane was to leave I'd imagine his destination to be Spain. Can't see him leaving anytime soon though to be honest.

Yea, sorry. I meant signing Lakuku will mean they won't. Another good season though and Real will come calling.

One of the best strikers in Europe last season so was always going to be a huge fee. I'm actually a little surprised they aren't paying more.

Imagine Giroud and Rooney up front. That would be the most immobile strike force out there.

75 million has someone on here has quoted seems realistic
If Gray won't sign a new deal, we should be able to collect 20million for him with add ons

A little shove in Chelsea's back to get a move on with bringing him back to Stamford Bridge perhaps ?
Surely cynical moves like that don't happen in football.

Everton will be signing two out of the three - Rooney, Giroud or Jimenez.
West Ham is the only destination for Gray if he leaves.

So SSN's yellow bar currently reads:
Sky Sources :Everton accept £75 million bid for Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United
Followed by
Senior Everton Sources tell SSN that no deal has been agreed to sell Lukaku to Man U
That clears that up then.

I'm sure Conte would quit Chelsea if he didn't get Lukaku and Costa moves back to Atletico

If Everton get in Giroud & Rooney as linked, then they won't be much weaker up top. As for Keane, quite how joining a team that is clearly ambitious about getting into the top 4, and at worse finish 5th/6th/7th every season, qualifying for Europe, could not be a good move for the kid is laughable. Almost guaranteed starter at a level which will enhance his England prospects further, it's the perfect move.

That's way too much money for Lukaku. Costa is the better forward.

Last season Lukakau was a bit of a flat track bully (record against top six very poor) - Utd struggled to get past anyone at home which cost them a top 3 place - made to measure for that purpose - he will need to push on if he is to do it at the top level in Europe - Suspect with the move for Morata as well that Utd are preparing 2 different kinds of forward lines to meet their requirements on all fronts

Rumours flying around that they're after Van Dijk for £65m now.
Keane and Van Dijk would be a hell of a partnership.

The last I read is that they've ended their interest in Morata, so perhaps it was one or the other.

Lukaku was always leaving. He wouldn't sign a new deal and so the move was inevitable. As for Keane, a good move for him because he'll get more football there than he would have done at some of the top six. Keane needs to play games more than anything else and at the highest level possible.

He's also got a very good defensive partner in Ashley Williams.
