England vs Germany

Post by FactualFrank » Fri Nov 10, 2017 3:58 pm

I thought I'd start a thread for those who wish to come on and state how much they hate International friendlies and/or think they're a waste of time and how they won't be watching and have no interest in the game, whatsoever.

And also for those who will be watching ;)

Latest news:
Ruben Loftus-Cheek will make his England debut from the start in Friday's friendly against Germany at Wembley.
Tammy Abraham is set to be handed his England debut from the start against Germany.
Southgate also confirmed that Tottenham defender Eric Dier will captain England for the first time.

Predicted team, according to the papers:
Pickford; Rose, Maguire, Stones, Jones, Trippier; Loftus-Cheek, Dier, Livermore; Abraham, Vardy

I just had a violent shudder looking at the 3 names in midfield. Has it really come to this?

0-4

Until Jack comes on to shore it up. Then we won't concede again.

It's much more fun watching the comments roll in on these sorts of threads rather than watching the actual game.

Any road I'll be at the gym, making good use of my time.

Rose, Stones, Tripps, Dier - are any of the others international class?

Or indeed, would any of the others get in the Burnley side (possibly Vardy, though due to him being a complete #### I'd hope not)

You mean there are people who care so much about the national team they will come on to post how much they don't care and won't be watching it?

I know Loftus-Cheek is highly rated but he's only played about half a dozen games so far for Palace and hasn't been setting the world on fire. Hopefully Cork will get a decent run out

I'll start off watching Sweden v Italy play-off on SkySports at 19.45. I can have a catch up with the England game when it's half time there and decide which 2nd half to go with.
England v Argentina at Twickenham tomorrow looks a much more interesting proposition than tonight's Wembley round ball game.

And that, folks, is just about as interesting as this game will be. It's all downhill from this point.

Giggs's eyes are too close together.

I wouldn't trust him even if I was his brother......

For anyone with Sky, if this is a bore in the first 10 minutes switch onto Sweden v Italy, decent start to the game with a couple of tasty challenges going in.

there's a good chance Jack will get a game, there are no other out and out midfielders on the bench

Had Jack Cork not been on the bench I’d have watched the Sweden v Italy game.

You're not missing much, half time whistle just gone. Italy haven't offered much but Sweden play well through the midfield but then can't make anything stick around the Italy area, combination of brilliant Italian defenders, poor Swedish attackers and Berg getting a yellow card in the first 30 seconds meaning he can't go into challenges as much as he would like.

Can't weigh up how Tyldsley and Hoddle are building Loftus-Cheek up into a world beater. He's done nothing in his career so far to suggest he'll be anything other than a bang average squad player for a lower-mid Premier League team.

I remember when Cheek was meant to be the next big thing at 15. Hes now 21 so definitely taking time if he is to do well for England.

Each to their own I suppose, but I have been dying to see Loftus cheek in an England shirt for ages.He is exactly the sort of player England have been missing. Very confident,an eye for a pass and the ability to be one of those players who just seems to have more time than others. He constantly turns into space and moves forward. Don't know what you want really, but as I say each to their own. I was very disappointed Jack wasn't starting and was ready to slate livermore through claret specs, but he's actually done ok

England playing well.

Got to admit that as much as I was against Southgate getting the job, he seems to be doing OK and isn't afraid to experiment with players and formations.
