Around the same time that it became the norm to travel in the outside lane going round the roundabout past crow wood and onto the M65. Again without indicators..

Going towards the roundabout near kwik-fit/B&M bargains is a nightmare. People who don't indicate make the traffic back up.
If your going left, say so, then the traffic coming out of town can turn up towards the motorways.

They also have the assumption that the outside lane on any given motorway is their own personal property.

The worst junction in town for brainless driving is the one as you get to the bottom of Manchester Rd with Reel to your right and Oakmount Vets to your left.

The keep clear section, marked on the round about, is the single most populated section of road in the whole of town. What do people not understand about the big white "KEEP CLEAR" markings on the road.

Was it Audi who brought out the car with a 2 second delay between moving the switch and the indicator coming on, so it comes on when you finish the manoever?

The standard of driving is getting worse day by day.

The worst pieces of driving that I've seen this week have been by driving instructors !

No wonder their students struggle to drive properly, like what I do ;)

Cars in Nelson don't give way to traffic from the right .it makes for interesting times at traffic islands.They also drive at you in the middle of the road Just aim straight at them and you'll be ok

I drive through Deepdale regularly. there must be a magnetic field there that simply stops indicators working

It became optional about the same time as not needing to stop when traffic lights change to red! (Which seems to be the norm these days!)

Wow this again, I consider myself to be a pretty safe driver I have driven in a lot of different countries over lots of terrain types and many types of vehicles. I attempt to stay at the speed limit and indicate at a reasonable juncture my intentions to other people around me. With that said I still make mistakes I have forgotten to indicate, changed my mind at the last minute and left the indicator on that old others I was going the opposite way to what I ended up going and been caught speeding. My point is some of the people you are on about will have no doubt done it deliberately, for the majority I guess it will be a simple mistake which if you are honest every single one of you will have done in the past or will do at some point in the future.

I know exactly where you mean.
They need to make the left hand lane at the roundabout at the bottom of Westgate, left turn only. This would keep traffic flowing from that direction turning left towards UCLAN, Asda etc. The traffic in the right lane would either go straight on into town (mainly buses and taxis) or turn right past PoundStretcher.

This roundabout is laid out incorrectly since they did work on it. The KEEP CLEAR markings don`t follow the natural flow of traffic ie if you are driving to Trafalgar from Centenary Way, the markings are too far to the left, so drivers avoid them or drive round them.

Also, when driving down Manchester Road towards the roundabout, the arrows in the 2 lanes state.
Left lane = Left arrow to Trafalgar and straight arrow on to Manchester Road
Right hand Lane = Straight arrow on only, presumably to Manchester Road and to Centenary Way.

Surely both lanes shouldn`t point towards Manchester Road? As you will be cutting up cars to your left.

Try being in a vehicle on a roundabout with a cyclist when you have to guess which way they are going. I can't remember the last time I saw a cyclist use their arms to indicate which way they are going! The 'professional' ones are the worst. They seem to have their hands superglued to the handlebars.

Certainly not me there Commy. I give everyone as much warning as possible, and constantly look around to make sure the old/young/middle age person has actually noticed me in between trying to overtake me in the 3 inch gap in the oncoming traffic.

I only get almost killed once a week these days, which is an improvement.

It used to be a yellow box didn't it? Presumably had to get rid because no one understand what it was for.

On the Isle of Wight drivers think speed limits are optional, they just do a steady 40mph regardless of the speed limit. 20mph residential area? 40. Dual carriageway? 40.

Stopped at traffic lights yesterday near Nelson and the car next to me was in the right turn only lane. 'Mind her in case she wants to go straight on, she is a bit old and maybe confused' says my wife, the driver being a nice looking elderly lady with silver blue rinse hair.

NO CHANCE, she watched the lights change for traffic crossing our line of travel and hit the accelerator, screeching around the right turn whilst we were still on RED in order to 'beat' the oncoming traffic!

its annoying when people dont indicate, but when you consider the **** driving at 70mph + in 30 zones then it becomes a lesser problem.
I had someone overtake me last night for no good reason, in doing so he almost hit an oncoming car head on. Within less than a minute he was stopped next to me at a red light. Insane. He could have killed someone who did absolutely nothing wrong.

I'm guessing,JohnMac,you're referring to the lights at the Manchester road/Lomeshaye road junction.
Seen it plenty of times where they floor it and shoot up Lomeshaye road...but never from an old dear just the usual local suspects...if you know what I mean...?

Yep, fully concur.

Certainly makes travelling from Asda/Duke bar areas up to Junction 10 back right up.
( Although I do believe a junction going towards, Preston would be useful at the crow wood roundabout )

There are two single exit junctions each side of Burnley M65 .The junction approaching Burnley from the South even had the groundwork done years ago Now it has a new industrial estate built on it and still you can't turn towards Nelson only towards Preston
The one at Asda is the otherway around ffs

It is difficult for many of them to indicate as they don’t have a spare hand to do it. Most motorists I see these days who are under 40 years of age are using their other hand to text or check @rse book or some other social media sh1te on their smart phones.

Manchester rd roundabout has become a lot worse thanks to the pedestrian crossing about 10ft from the exit onto Trafalger st.
It causes the roundabout to back up and then you get the idiots who stop in the keep clear area and stop anybody coming down Manchester rd then going towards town or Centenary way.

If You read section 69 of the highway code you will find that when the man in front with the red flag is no longer expected to keep up with your car then the option to suck it in and indicate is an option

Got to say double like claretthroughs idea of an app on mobile phone.
Whilst I unerstand some people use there phones for the direction map the cost for a holder is low.
But one pet hate is people with ''prestige '' cars that have blue tooth already on or again a plug in one is quite cheap so no excuse for talking on mobile.

Curse of the Audi...

Just come onto Westway from Westgate, Blonde female in a Grey Q5 comes from Trafalgar Street through Red lights on her phone, goes to left hand lane then veers into outside lane without indicating, goes round the roundabout in outside lane, then stops dead 40 yards short of the motorway junction heading west, indicates and pulls left in front of an HGV, and roars away.... :x :x
