Spurs (H) 23rd December - Lift back to London?

Post by WatermelonMan » Tue Dec 12, 2017 9:08 am

Hi all,

My dad and I have season tickets and travel by train from Kent and London respectively every other week. The last train that we can catch after the Spurs game is the 7.15 from Manchester Road, which would mean leaving 20 minutes into the second half. Not ideal. Ordinarily, we'd stay the night in Burnley but that's not an option as it is Christmas Eve the next day and the family might have something to say about that...

Is anyone travelling back to London / Kent / anywhere remotely south with 2 free seats after the game? It goes without saying that we'll chip in handsomely for petrol / beers / snacks.

Cheers!

If you can't get a lift.

What about Spurs coaches or the last train back ftom Manchester piccadilly is 8.35 a bit tight on the X43 but a taxi will get you there in plenty of time. Around 25 quid with Max Cabs.

Cheers Quickenthetempo, we had considered a cab to Manchester. Only problem is if we get stuck in traffic getting out of Burnley, we would be cutting it very fine for the 8.35 train. If we missed it, we'd be stuck in Manchester for the evening and that wouldn't be great. Do you reckon we'd be OK?

As for the Spurs coaches - I presume we'd need a Spurs ticket to travel on those? Anyway, I don't think I'd be able to contain myself after our glorious 2-0 victory.

The £30 taxi to Manchester will save you most time and money.
9rder it before hand and to pick you up at the bus stop inbetween Turkish Kebab and The Chinese Chippy.at 19:20 facing up Tod Rd. You'll be on the motorway for 19:30 . Youd have to leave smack bang on 90 mins though.

Another option is taxi to Bury and get tram directly to Piccadilly train station. Watch out for trains around Christmas. A lot are cancelled.

I'm on the 10pm National Express coach from Burnley.... It gets to London at 6:20am.... £34.

Or there's a MegaBus from Manchester at 11:45pm....£5.

No better feeling than rolling off an all night bus into Victoria Coach station after a skinful the evening before.

Probably stops at every town/city on the way.

Yes lots of stops and noisy, parents with young kids getting on and off so recommend effective ear muffs.

I have a similar problem. I've planned to stay overnight and travel back to Sussex on Christmas eve. Not ideal and they are announcing lots of cancellations. I'm currently sitting on Preston Station waiting for the 19.59 Euston train... It's infuriating but it's already delayed by 25 mins!
Getting up for midweek night matches is 2 days of a job.
