Imminent stories of us being taken over by Chinese billionaires
But it's Barnsley. Who will be the first news outlet to get it wrong?

This should certainly be interesting. Don't Brentford use the moneyball approach too?

I've watched the film Moneyball and read a bit about Beane.
Did a really good job at Oaklands by side stepping the usual route of scouting players and used stats with the help of a non baseball person.
Worked out well for them, would be interesting to see if they tried it over here.

They didn't send a baseball person over to sit on the board did they?Caernarfon_Claret wrote:Didn't Liverpool try it with their baseball owners.

it wont be long until it's about us. If we carry on doing as well as we are doing then foreign investment will come and will be just be about if the board accept it or not

Are the stories "imminent" or is the takeover "imminent".
I think it's more likely that our directors have had personal dealing with Chinese takeaways than Chinese billionaires.

Re: Imminent stories of us being taken over by Chinese billionaires
makes me wonder how many foreign [or otherwise] investors have enquired about buying our club. no doubt we'll be 'pinging' on some investors' radars. we might be a small club but we are premier league. i imagine that our top flight status will be more attractive to foreign investors than the size of the ground, the town etc.
Re: Imminent stories of us being taken over by Chinese billionaires
Do you think the investors thought they were buying Burnley?

No matter how much investment they get & how much they improve their station, they'll never be the biggest club in Yarkshirre- just ask any Leeds fan.

Read that. Sounds like he was just required to email a daily brief (like my boss makes me do) and the reporter's making it sound like an outrage.

I'm sure we've been batting off interest for some time, and from several different investors. Mr. Garlic has publically stated more than once - the club is not for sale. With the club making an opperating profit I would expect that is now doubled down.

I believe two billionaires, one Chinese and the other Korean, - Twen Ti Thri and Un Di Fetid - are showing a real interest in the Clarets and their recent success

Yes but they found that baseball players didn't really meet the skill set for football. Didn't fancy wearing shorts either.Caernarfon_Claret wrote:Didn't Liverpool try it with their baseball owners.

I heard there were 4 billionaires involved: Twen Ti Thri and his brother, Twen Tee Thri (that's how Chinese names work...), Un Di Fetid and the fourth was Aye Say, from Africa, I understand.evensteadiereddie wrote:I believe two billionaires, one Chinese and the other Korean, - Twen Ti Thri and Un Di Fetid - are showing a real interest in the Clarets and their recent success

The day that we get bought out buy a Chinese/Arab consortium is the day I stop going on the turf.
Re: Imminent stories of us being taken over by Chinese billionaires
Has it been said that the club isn’t for sale or that they wouldn’t welcome investors, if someone suitable was to come along? We would be mad not to consider investment on the right terms and perhaps ensuring that the majority remains in the hands of Garlick et al.
