FC St Pauli
Going to Hamburg in May and taking in a St Pauli home game. Has anyone been to the Millerntor-Stadion and if so any tips or advice about attending a game there. There will be 12 of us on a stag do so it’s not a case of sneaking in under the radar.
Re: FC St Pauli
I went on a stag a few years ago and got some tickets from a tout. They were in the Bundesliga back then so every game sold out - not sure where they are now?

They’re in league 2 now and I reckon we’ll get tickets through the club in advance. Checked out their website and it seems to be a typically efficient German set up. Just looking at where to go in the ground and local boozers.

Went for a pre season friendly this year, so just bought tickets on the day. Great stadium with a great atmosphere, even for a friendly.

Never been to a ST Pauli game but went for a stag last year in October.
Unfortunately, it was the international break while we were there, but did get to watch England vs Germany and have some banter.
It's a bloody brilliant place.

Re: FC St Pauli
I’m seriously looking forward to the game. Never done a foreign ground on match day, if you discount the Oval in Belfast.
Re: FC St Pauli
Went there in December to watch them against Duisburg. We got tickets off there website beforehand but they usually go very quickly so you have to be on it. It’s a great city with loads of good bars. There is a lot going on around the ground before the game so it is worth getting there early. Visit the ‘ jolly roger’ bar near the ground it’s nothing special decor wise but it’s a proper football citadel I forgot to take a Clarets scarf to leave but I am sure if you did it would be up on the wall. There are free standing areas for both home and visiting fans which adds to a great atmosphere and you can enjoy a beer while you watch!

Re: FC St Pauli
I got talking to a black homosexual St Pauli fan (yes I couldn't believe it either) in a pub near Eindhoven once.
He was a really nice chap and we'd been chatting for ages about football and our two countries. I obviously didn't know that he was homosexual until the Welsh landlord told me.
I did wonder why he thought I needed that information as it wasn't a designated homosexual pub.

Thanks for all your input. Brunlea has mentioned the Jolly Roger which I have been told about recently. Getting tickets from the clu seems a good idea too.

Re: FC St Pauli
I hope you will not be disappointed but I am pretty sure most of the games are a sell out even if they are only in 2nd division now. I do not really know what to suggest but if the game is important to you, you should at least make sure you have tickets before you go. For example, the next two games against Kiel and Braunschweig are already sold out as that is written on the website. The other fixtures have still not been announced by the German FA so that is why there is no ticket information but, judging by the next two games, games are generally sold out well in advance. Also, touts are pretty frowned upon at Pauli and the club and fans have been coming down hard on them.BooRadley wrote:Thanks for all your input. I hope I am wrong but I would not like you to be disappointed. Hamburg is a great city for a night out in any case though. Good luck with it!
