Swansea
Both Bony and Fer ruled out for the rest of the season.

Just heard that on radio five. Four days after the window has closed. Bit of a bummer.

Might be a bit of a bummer for Swansea but no worse than we might have
with Brady, Defour, Wood and possibly Tarks out for us.
Definitely need not to lose this one but a draw would be enough.

They are both Tosh! Still hope they go down because of Clement's fist pumping and running up and down the touch line when they beat us last season with a dodgy last minute goal....ClementKRBFC wrote:Fer's a really good player, Bony's tosh

Re: Swansea
Fer will be a big miss for them, Bony less so now they have Ayew back.
We have a poor history at Swansea, we'll need to be at our best again on Saturday.

Re: Swansea
I fancy us here especially with Lowton and Lennon in the team gives an extra attacking dimension . We’ve even got bench options and with our injury list that’s quite something . The weak teams we’ve recently played we really missed a bona fida creator like Lennon.

I didn't like Clement cos, as a manager, he was above his pay grade but don't get your knickers in a knot because a manager celebrates a crucial late winner. Even if it was against us or is it because it was against us?Steve1956 wrote:They are both Tosh! beaten Liverpool and Arsenal in their last two home games, good away point at Leicester yesterday. It's going to be a very tough game for us for sure not withstanding our record down there

Re: Swansea
I don't mind a manager celebrating, but to run round the touchline to fist pump in front of the away fans is poor. He is on my prick list.piston broke wrote:I didn't like Clement cos, as a manager, he was above his pay grade but don't get your knickers in a knot because a manager celebrates a crucial late winner. But they've sacked Clement, because their results under him were so poor, so I don't see how that is now factor.Steve1956 wrote:They are both Tosh! I used to share your view for the same reason, but there are several other teams who I would much rather fall through the trap door now:
Stoke under LAMBERT
WBA, (partly because of Pardew),but mainly because we always seem to do badly against them
Brighton - due to fans attitude
WHU - for all sorts of reasons, and Watford, because they deserve it.

Re: Swansea
Importantly Swansea are playing for Carlos Carvalhal and have some upward momentum, will definitely be a tougher game than the stroll we had at the turf, shows that you can't cater for injuries outwith the window.

Re: Swansea
Swansea have had their 6 match bounce under a new man, by Saturday.
They will go back to normal now and are there for the taking.
I really hope SD goes 4-4-2 again but I somehow doubt he will.

A draw is a good result.

Everyone has a decent run when the chips are down. 3 of the bottom 11 will go for sure. Wehave been consistent and we will go to Europe!

Re: Swansea
If we can grab an early goal on saturday i think we can beat them comfortably, we just need to knock their confidence off track, they have had some decent results of late, we have a bad record down there but we had at stamford bridge, old trafford, goodison and others, so those sort of stats dont worry me anymore, we can beat any team on our day and this lot are very beatable

Re: Swansea
Swings and roundabouts tbh. We were able to play Swansea the first time when they were on a rubbish run and playing with no confidence. Now we come up against them when they've turned a corner and are seriously on the up. A very tough game at a venue we traditionally don't like! A draw would be just fine!

Clement was more than complimentary about us on Sky this Sunday. He said we were the best team in the Premier League for keeping it tight and staying in a game.piston broke wrote:I didn't like Clement cos, as a manager, he was above his pay grade but don't get your knickers in a knot because a manager celebrates a crucial late winner. I agree, one of several talented coaches who just aren't cut out for the top job.piston broke wrote:I've no problem with the bloke, just think he's a coach and not a manager.
Kidd, Phelan, McLaren etc

Re: Swansea
Always been impressed with Fer, he's had some good games against us. Was out of sorts earlier in the season but had just hit form apparently. Good timing for us, hopefully we can give them a setback after a good few weeks.

Re: Swansea
I think that last night's result is a blessing in disguise.
Sure, the home crowd and players will be up for it at the start, but so will we. This will have been a reality check for our team and any complacency will have completely gone out of the window.
Carvalhal will be tempted to reward that team by playing the same "form" players, which he wouldn't have done if the cup game had been tighter and he may now opt for bench places for his new signings instead of launching them into this game.
I am looking forward to another trip down there. I would love us to get an early goal but foresee a tight start (Man City) with the home team then tiring, running out of ideas, some frustration in the crowd and the Clarets snatching a late second half winner.
