I`d be absolutely thrilled for him!!!!! Deserves it.
Re: ARTICLE: International coach to watch Barnes at West Ham
Think he will be watching Arnautovic (sp) personally, with maybe 1 eye on Barnes too, if he knows he qualifies.
Would Barnes accept the offer is the other question of course.

I think they watched him against Everton so I would think Ashley is nailed on to be named in the Austrian squad

Arnautovic on Saturday looked like the Arnautovic of last season at Stoke. Totally disinterested and head down. I hope that's the guy who shows up this week.MACCA wrote:Think he will be watching Arnautovic (sp) personally, with maybe 1 eye on Barnes too, if he knows he qualifies.

Re: ARTICLE: International coach to watch Barnes at West Ham
Listen guys, I've been critical of Barnes but he is winning me over more and more, so much so that I am now in the 'let's keep him' camp, but England? I'm a dyed in the wool Claret of long standing and I want our players to do well but I think someone's having a laugh with this one. If he carries on with his current form for another couple of months and gets into double figures then I suppose yeah, why not, but just now? I am impressed by the form Barnes is showing now and I admit there is more to him than I thought, well done to him, but it's a big jump from being a decent bench warmer (as he was for a good while) to hitting the England side.
Having said all that he's been proving me wrong for a few weeks now so who knows, stranger things have happened. If it does happen it will only exacerbate our problem of keeping players once they hit the international scene. It must be hard for a manager like Dyche knowing that what you've built patiently over a long period of time can be torn from under you because of being the victim of your own success.

It's the Austrian coach not Southgate. The article is shorter than your comment, try reading it.

I've given Barnes praise where due. He was good on Saturday because he played properly, instead of flopping to the floor whenever an opponent came near him.Sidney1st wrote:Walton would like to challenge for that title.
I hate it when he cheats, because when he doesn't, we're much better as a team, as we saw on Saturday.

Re: ARTICLE: International coach to watch Barnes at West Ham
No he isn't, he was born in Bath of English parents and his name is Barnes, not the most Austrian of names last I looked. Therefore he most definitely ISN'T Austrian. He does qualify to play for Austria by some quirk of fate. I hadn't read the actual article due to lack of time (I'm at work) so my misunderstanding there, sorry.Sidney1st wrote:You've mentioned England, Barnes is Austrian

Vokes is the same in regards to qualifying to play for Wales.houseboy wrote:No he isn't, he was born in Bath of English parents. Therefore he most definitely ISN'T Austrian. Re: ARTICLE: International coach to watch Barnes at West Ham
I can understand Houseboy's misunderstanding, particularly not reading the article. Remember, only a couple of months ago our Ash was linked with Chelsea; and they're much better than England!

Now with a name like Vokes I could fully understand an Austrian connection.Sidney1st wrote:Vokes is the same in regards to qualifying to play for Wales.

That is the best news of the week (other than the win).
So much deserved.
Better brush up his German with a West Country accent!

If he joined up with the England squad we would stand the best chance of getting penalties with him and Alli in the team.
But also the best chance of having a player sent off.

Re: ARTICLE: International coach to watch Barnes at West Ham
His form in recent weeks has deserved recognition and praise. On Saturday he was excellent in the second half.
Austria aren't the best side in the world, but they are actually reasonably good up top. Not just Arnautovic they have some good forwards with excellent records domestically and in The German Bundesliga. But he has earnt his chance.
England though? People must be fishing with that one!
Good player and has improved no end. But nowhere near England quality. As bad as people think England are...
As someone said above, he is a much better player when he focuses on playing rather than needless dives, needless fouls, and needless moaning.
I like Barnes, and he has proved recently we should keep him next season as an option. And I hope he proves us wrong again next season and keeps his place. He is a bit like Beast in that respect. Limited, but a fans favourite who proves the doubters wrong and keeps his place.

The last international manager to watch Barnes for a call up was Graham Taylor.

Bloody Austria !!! not exactly setting the football world on fire, and they have dragged their feet when it comes to involving Barnes .
They don't deserve him , the fat headed , under achieving clowns.
