Barnes or Fletcher
Barnes bicycle kick against WBA on Saturday or Paul Fletcher's against Leeds in 1974. Which is the best?
Barnes for me. Too execute such a finish whilst completely off the ground is sublime.

Re: Barnes or Fletcher
both brilliant in different ways, but Fletch edges it for me, just because it wiped the smug look from Revie's face

Re: Barnes or Fletcher
Fletcher, just because it was against dirty Leeds. The greatest football team the world has ever known, and whilst they were at their very best. At least Leeds fans think they were, most of them still think they are.
Two worldies whichever way you look at it.

Fletcher by a considerable distance.
Barnes's goal isn't a bicycle kick, it's just an extended leg.

Re: Barnes or Fletcher
Easily PFs goal for me.
Just watched it on youtube and the ball drops straight down on top of him
and his back's to goal. Beautifully judged.
Although Ash's is a cracker too.

Fletcher by a country mile.
Re: Barnes or Fletcher
Both brilliant but the Revie factor say's Fletch for me especially on the back of the TV documentary called 'The Don of Elland Road' the goal was included in the prog.

I’m now firmly in the Barnes camp. If the man can physically extend the length of his leg our sports science team should be up for the Nobel prize.UpTheBeehole wrote:Fletcher by a considerable distance.

Re: Barnes or Fletcher
Get on sky sports, as they're running a poll on the goal of the weekend and Barnes is currently 3rd, behind Eriksson and Sanchez

Re: Barnes or Fletcher
How can Barnes goal be behind Erikssons in a poll when the keeper just stood there and watched the ball loop over his head.
I guess 70,000 fans voting is the answer!

Re: Barnes or Fletcher
Very difficult choice as both wonderful goals. Maybe Fletcher because of the opposition at the time. Barnes's goal looks a really awkward angle though and is something special.

I was there for both...
Fletcher was best - but I enjoyed both goals equally and also the away victories!

Re: Barnes or Fletcher
Totally different goals.
Fletchers is a true overhead kick.
Ash just uses his boot to guide it in, after some fantastic athletisism.
i'll abstain but enjoy them both.

Re: Barnes or Fletcher
Barnes’ goal was even better than has been mentioned because he actually had to fall backwards slightly to position himself.
Re: Barnes or Fletcher
Fletcher.
One minute thirty seconds.

Re: Barnes or Fletcher
Who scored an overhead kick against Stoke once? I’m thinking maybe Nigel Gelghorn or Ally Pickering ?
Plus I’m sure Andy Cooke scored a decent one too

Re: Barnes or Fletcher
Barnes because he had 3 yards to make up had to adjust. Fletcher great goal too but was right underneath it and had more time. Though it was against Leeds so an extra bonus point for that too!
Re: Barnes or Fletcher
both for me no need to make one better than t'other just both brilliant
Re: Barnes or Fletcher
Can't bring them to mind but the one from Tom Cowan wasn't badShappie wrote:Who scored an overhead kick against Stoke once? I’m thinking maybe Nigel Gelghorn or Ally Pickering ?
