Derby vs Fulham
The board seems split when asked about who they'd like to go up through the playoffs, but for me it's Derby. Two reasons: my cousin lives there, who's also a Burnley fan, so a nice close away game.. and I think Fulham will spend a very pretty penny to stay up, if they got promotion.
So come on Derby!
So come on Derby!

Not particularly arsed about the footie side of it, but London's always great for an away weekend.
So it's the Cottagers for me. Sorry, Frank.

Re: Derby vs Fulham
That's probably the only reason why I wouldn't want Derby up. The 4 teams in the playoffs, there's at least 1 reason why I don't want them to go up. It's certainly a bad bunch.Diesel wrote:Is Shackell injured?

He's been sat on Millwall's bench last few months, not sure he's eligible.Diesel wrote:Is Shackell injured?

On loan though. Which suggests they no longer think he's good enough (I hope!) - so maybe if Derby did go up, they'd sell him anyway.Manceau wrote:He's been sat on Millwall's bench last few months, not sure he's eligible.

Re: Derby vs Fulham
I want Fulham to get promoted. I don't like Boro or Derby. Villa are okay, but Fulham are a nice club, living in Chelsea's shadow. Also, Burney 4 Fulham 0 in April 1963 was my first match at the Turf.

I think Fulham will spend a lot of money if they go up. A team like Derby would be much more likely to drop straight back down.Quicknick wrote:I want Fulham to get promoted. Think I remember Andy Cooke scoring a header rather like that at PP. Gordon Armstrong supplied the cross, as I remember.

Some of them Derby players looked to be breathing through their arses towards the end of the half there.
Might be sommat in it for Fulham in the second half if they PUT THE F***ING BALL IN THE BOX

It would be driving me mad this 'trying to walk the ball into the box' if I was a Fulham fan.

Re: Derby vs Fulham
Fulham will win by more than 2 goals in the second leg, I'm sure of it. But looking at how Derby played, I'd like them to go up even more. They were absolute bonk, and would go straight back down unless they invested millions.tiger76 wrote:The 3rd place jinx going to strike again?,still think Derby will find a way to throw this away

Another clean sheet for Derby, and another upstanding performance by Richard Keyogh. If we don't get him to replace that pansie Kevin Long, it will be a travesty.

We don't need any more London clubs in the premier league thanks very much. Villa, Derby or the boro would be nice.
Re: Derby vs Fulham
There is no jinx. The team that finishes in third has won the playoffs more times than the teams finishing in any of the other playoff positions.tiger76 wrote:The 3rd place jinx going to strike again?,still think Derby will find a way to throw this away

Re: Derby vs Fulham
I’d like Villa to come up through the play offs. Cardiff for Swansea like for like and Wolves for WBA like for like in terms of stature but Villa for Stoke is a massive improvement. Villa are a huge club and that’s what being in the Prem is all about for us, snottig the big boys.
From the two up so far I can see Wolves spending a fortune to assemble a mediocre side at best I think Cardiff will struggle.
The list of potential strugglers makes good reading for us though and we are capable of more than holding our own again next season.

True...Tall Paul wrote:There is no jinx. The team that finishes in third has won the playoffs more times than the teams finishing in any of the other playoff positions.
Although there is another way of looking at it:

Since 1989,when a premier league team no longer had to compete, the majority of championship play off winners have finished 4th 5th or 6th (18). The team finishing 3rd 10 times thus far.
NB
Not including 1995 winners Bolton who did finish 3rd when only the champions went up automatically.

Anyway I'm not one for petty squabbling on internet messageboards, if you've got a problem why don't we meet up before the game tomorrow and discuss our differences like real men?
I'll be in the Royal Dyche from 11.30, ask for razorblade body snatcher, tomohawk Toby at the bar and they will point me out.
