Breathalysers
Breathalysers
I've learned today that the police have a breathalyser machine, which theyre now useing, which is accurate enough for anyone over the limit to be then charged. They will no longer be transported to a police station for a further test to be analysed, before being charged.
This may stop some cases going before a court and being thrown out on technicalities.

Do you mean technicalities like the machine wasn't working or there is no calibration certificate? How many cases do you think are thrown out on a technicality?Bfc wrote: This may stop some cases going before a court and being thrown out on technicalities.

Its to cut out the time lag between the kerbside test and the definitive police station machine ( or sobering up time for borderline cases) but not coming in for a few years i believe
Re: Breathalysers
I've never drank alcohol and driven and would be stunned if this machine showed me over so I would demand a blood test.

Re: Breathalysers
Funny that this has been brought up.
I was arrested last night for drink driving and taken to the police station, the machine there wasn't working so the police insisted that I provided a urine sample, so I peed in a little jar as requested and placed it on the sergeants desk. I was left alone, only for a few moments so I thought it would be a good idea to steal the jar of wee, however the sergeant saw me do it. I have also been charged with taking the pi$$

Did you walk back to your Old Jokes Home or did they give you a lift?
Re: Breathalysers
The technicality where the driver was so marginally over the limit that he had sobered up to below the limit for the second test.Burnley Ace wrote:Do you mean technicalities like the machine wasn't working or there is no calibration certificate? It's probably hardly needed, because surely in most cases the knowledge that you were so close to being caught is going to make you sober up anyway. There will always be a few who assume that because they got away with it once, they'll get away with it again.
