White Cars!
White Cars!
I am going to buy a car in the next couple of months or so and am pretty sure that I am getting a Seat Ateca.
It took me a while to decide on the car to get and now it's a question of me deciding on the colour which I have narrowed down to either white or red.
Yes I know it's a question of personal choice but I like the look and idea of having a white car but just wondering if I would regret it with dirt showing up more on white cars.
Does anyone own or have previously owned a white car and either regretted getting that colour or the opposite found it no problem with the showing up dirt issue?

Re: White Cars!
You’ll never find it if it snows
Re: White Cars!
Had at least 3 white cars and they are fine. Shows up the dirt less than the black cars I have had.
Only had one red car - an Audi - and the colour faded badly as it can do with a lot of red cars (or at least used to)
I would go for the one you like best and not worry about showing dirt etc - just wash it regularly !

Re: White Cars!
I don't like white for a car, just my personal preference, but a friend always buys white for the very reason he says, "White doesn't show the dirt." We have a blue car and it just seems to attract the dirt.

Re: White Cars!
A friend of mine was once told by a car salesman that white was the best colour for NOT showing up the dirtspadesclaret wrote:I don't like white for a car, just my personal preference, but a friend always buys white for the very reason he says, "White doesn't show the dirt." And another friend of mine who drives a white Ford Kuga told me that she washes it normally every 6 weeks so doesn't find it a problem
And you do see so many white cars on the road nowadays so obviously a popular colour atm

Re: White Cars!
Get the colour you want, her indoors has had two white cars and liked them, the current black car seems to show muck as much. Also the black shows scratches more than any car we ever owned.
Re: White Cars!
Could have just been the cheap crap I was driving but from my experience red cars have a tendency to slowly become pale pink-orange cars if you don't wax them every so often.
Re: White Cars!
White is definitely better than black for not showing muck. I can take my black cat for valeting and a day later (especially in this dry dusty weather) it looks ready for another wash after a few days!mkmel wrote:A friend of mine was once told by a car salesman that white was the best colour for NOT showing up the dirt

Re: White Cars!
My previous car was white and I never found dirt a problem. I currently have a black car and find I feel the need to wash it far more often as you see the dirt easier when the light hits it.
I think the best car for not showing dirt is red personally, but certainly no issue with white. I think my next one will be white again.

White is a very safe colour in that people see you coming more easily (hopefully)

Black is apparently the worst colour to see and as such is the most likely colour to be in an accident .Whitgord wrote:White is a very safe colour in that people see you coming more easily (hopefully)
Too many white cars on the road these days though it's the in colour, I love red cars though vw golf or audi always look good in red, seat is from vw group so should be in red

Re: White Cars!
A lot of white cars are not metallic so are therefore the cheapest colour. (That’s why most vans are white).

Re: White Cars!
I used to have a white car and didn't find dirt a problem. Finding the car in a car park, that was a problem. Then I got a red one, fading to pink, and that was much much better - there are very few pink cars. Now I'm on dark grey, and in extremis I'm reduced to wandering round pushing the blipper and seeing which one flashes ...

One day I believe cars will have a surface you can alter at the click of a switch, like changing your wallpaper on your smart phone..

Re: White Cars!
The advice was never by a car that’s red because if you ever have a prang and need to match your existing colour they never will be able to accurately.
A light or white colour for a car is considered the safest as it’s seen easier then a dark coloured car in the dark.
This is old advice but seems reasonable to assume it’s still relevant today.

Re: White Cars!
I'm going to sound a right miserable sod here, but Seat get the fag end of Volkswagen quality and their gearboxes are not the greatest.
Maybe a white one will help if they do one.

Went round JLR recently and they said that white was the most popular colour ordered.

Re: White Cars!
Funny?
I'm driving with my roof down yesterday (one of those hairdressers cars) and stop at the lights on a dual carriageway. Car of lads pulls alongside. My radio is on and Fleetwood Mac's 'The Chain' comes on. Despite my age, I cannot resist and the lights change colour just as the musics beat kicks in, and I floor it!
My mind is on other things and 5 minutes later I pull up at the next lights, radio still blaring. Lads pull alongside again and lots of laughter emerges from their car. My daydreaming stops and I quickly realise their has been a change of song and ABBA's 'Dancing Queen' is blaring out of my car.

Re: White Cars!
White cars do show up dirt horrendously, especially tar spots.
Go with grey, silver or blue if you don’t want to be cleaning your car every week.

Re: White Cars!
Go for the Ateca top choice of car ignore comments as regards gearbox etc as they obviously have no idea about the new seat's . The Ateca is mainly built up of the Tiguan , Golf and A3 . The only difference apart from the interior being a bit more refined on the Tiguan is that that it also has independent suspension on the rear which after doing 10k in a Ateca I can assure you it doesn't need it . I personally went for the White and love it .
Re: White Cars!
So you have a white Seat Ateca?
What cc do you have as I am going for the 1.4 automatic

99% of them Vauxhalls for some reason. I`ve never understood why so many, postman pat vans are Vauxhalls and they fade like a pair of 60s Levi`s!Spiral wrote:Could have just been the cheap crap I was driving but from my experience red cars have a tendency to slowly become pale pink-orange cars if you don't wax them every so often.

Re: White Cars!
We have had white and black cars and for some strange reason the muck seems to show up more on black paint.
Re: White Cars!
I have the 1.6 tdi Manual . Which is very economical . My wife has the 1.4 Seat Leon fr with the 150ps that shuts cylinder's 2 and 3 of when cruising .
Don't go for the Peugeot you will regret it . I had the BMW 2 SERIES before the Ateca and there isn't much between them the Ateca wins on 9/10 the Bmw pips it on Motorway driving but given the choice again I would stick with the Atica but bo for the 1.4 150 ps .

Yes I have made my mind up and will go for the Seat Ateca 1.4 TSI SE Automatic Petrol in white
Re: White Cars!
Good choice as apparently it is said that psychologically folk want to pass a red car more than any other coloured vehicle

Black is the colour to avoid. Shows up all the small scratches.
I am buying a white HRV soon.

Re: White Cars!
Can't you just get it in Claret and Blue. That way you'd be proud of it even if it was a piece of sh1te car, and you'd be p1ssed off with if it was clean after a 90 minute drive.

What all Seat owners say. As someone who has owned all three VAG manufacturer's cars, there is a very big gap between a Seat and Audi.Lew200100 wrote:Go for the Ateca top choice of car ignore comments as regards gearbox etc as they obviously have no idea about the new seat's . Light blue is also a good car colour that will be seen easier.
