I remember the strikes when they tried to put unleaded up to a pound.... and then reversed it due to the outcry. Wonder what happened to change it. One of the dearest countries for fuel, American's did similar when it hit $1 a Gallon!

Re: Cheapest Petrol Round Here
I used to have a page email me the cheapest round here and would receive another one if it changed.
Trafalgar garage and Asda in Burnley were cheapest all the time, so I just binned the emails.

Re: Cheapest Petrol Round Here
Make me laugh when people drive further than they would usually to get cheaper petrol.
What they “save” they usually use for the extra distance
Morrison’s is usually pretty cheap

Worth noting that supermarket fuel isn't the same quality as some garages.

I see your point, but if everyone drove to the cheapest one, then eventually the others would have to drop their prices to compete.wilks_bfc wrote:Make me laugh when people drive further than they would usually to get cheaper petrol.

I’ve heard this said before but surely it all comes out of the same refineries and must meet the RON quality?Quickenthetempo wrote:Worth noting that supermarket fuel isn't the same quality as some garages.

Shell garage for instance has normal and premium diesel so it's not just the basic one for all.Whitgord wrote:I’ve heard this said before but surely it all comes out of the same refineries and must meet the RON quality?

Re: Cheapest Petrol Round Here
I was told years ago by a mechanic friend it was a waste of money always using Premium fuels. If you go for Premium once a month it's just as good as it's main advantage is it clears any crud from the engine... so if there isn't any its not doing anything.Quickenthetempo wrote:Shell garage for instance has normal and premium diesel so it's not just the basic one for all.

Re: Cheapest Petrol Round Here
I always get better mpg from a garage’s fuel rather than a supermarket. Texaco being the best. Normal fuel not the premium stuff.

Re: Cheapest Petrol Round Here
http://www.simplemotoring.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; shows a bit of info. Basically say each company offers different additives to clean the engine. Some supermarkets might not have a regular supplier of fuel just go with the cheapest, so could be hit and miss.

Re: Cheapest Petrol Round Here
Wasn't it just a short while ago in Germany where people abandoned their cars wherever over a hike in petrol prices.
Most in Rossendale gone up to 132.9.
Thieving barstewards.

Not wanting to be pedantic but it wasn't even a pound when that happened, it was 80p. Can you imagine! And this thread has £1.19 as being cheapelwaclaret wrote:I remember the strikes when they tried to put unleaded up to a pound.... and then reversed it due to the outcry. Worth mixing in some forte every now and then to clean your engine.
Paying for a new engine is a lot more expensive than spending a bit more on maintaining it properly...

Re: Cheapest Petrol Round Here
Supermarket fuel is made by Satan and is exclusively used by racists.
Supermarket fuel is 90% canal water and 10% orphans teas.
Only fuel from shell, BP and texaco is real, the rest is fake and the current government is covering it up!

Petrol round here is about 70-75p a litre. But it’s a 24,000 mile round trip!

Re: Cheapest Petrol Round Here
Gasbuddy.com does it work for you lot?
Did it today because my car calls for premium 91 and my mechanic says using 86 is killing my engine so grudgingly admitted to stop.
Shows all gas prices in town as reported by consumers. Helps when you have to put 91 in.
Also there's a grading system for outlets regarding quality of fuel based on historical data, though can't remember how to find that. Example, busy oil company owned facility gets higher grade (quality fuel / quicker turnover of fuel so fuel is optimum) versus others

Anyone who is an AA member.
The AA app is excellent and uses the google maps to, among other things, show you where the nearest garages are and how much they are charging as well. You can't go wrong.

The equivalent of £1.33 here which is why customs check to make sure your tank is 2/3 full before you can drive into Malaysia where it's 41p.

Re: Cheapest Petrol Round Here
I can never understand why people use that Kay's garage at Barrowford/Nelson when Morrison's is just around the corner and is always miles cheaper.
Re: Cheapest Petrol Round Here
I suppose its a bit like going to Costa Coffee and sitting outside. You want people to see you paying a fortune for something and so think you must have plenty of coin.Dark Cloud wrote:I can never understand why people use that Kay's garage at Barrowford/Nelson when Morrison's is just around the corner and is always miles cheaper.
