Half a season unbeaten
Well hello there fellow champions!!!!
I have a story to tell, one I mentioned a while ago but I wish to elaborate on this most joyous of days.
As some of you may know, I live and work at a Buddhist Monastery in Scotland (Kagyu Samye Ling) I am a practicing Buddhist.
On December the 26th a friend here (Tottenham Fan) had a jab at me "3-0 and you're staying down"
So we made a bet £10 Burnley would gain automatic promotion (I never said I was a GOOD Buddhist)
Since I don't get paid for my work here I consider my work to have merit beyond financial renumeration.
Buddhists generally try to do some meritorious activities and usually dedicate such merit to their teacher or other higher people in the lineage.
When I made the bet I decided to dedicate all my merit to Sean Dyche.
My merit is literally my full time work (approximately 810 hours of work)
I have been winding my friend up ever since about my "secret weapon", and how he didn't know what it was.
After paying me my £10 on Tuesday he asked what my secret weapon was, to which I told him,
"Superstitious nonsense!!" was his response.
I have absolutely no idea whether my little prayer worked for us (and I lean towards that it didn't) but it makes for such a nice story that I wanted to share it with you guys.
WHAT A SEASON!

Great to see a fellow meditator on "the "beehole end". I'm not a Buddhist but practice vipassana meditation. Helped me keep calm the last couple of weeks! Anyway great day, can't believe it, 2nd div. Champions for first time in 40 years. Magnificent!

I am almost positive that the Burnley boys are doing some sort of mediation/ mindfulness programme. You don't need to be religious to gain benefit from meditation, highly recommend it. (especially for next seasons' nerves)

Fantastic post, and perhaps a thank you is in order. If you hadn't dedicated that merit to Dyche, who knows where we'd be?! Good on you

Re: Half a season unbeaten
Am I right in thinking this run is a divisional record?
It would be nice to go the first half of next season unbeaten.

Colne, Dante. But not lived there for half my life. Made the marathon trip by land for the QPR game and will try to get up for at least one game next season.
Anicca (handy when experiencing the euphoria of promotion: don't get carried away because after all all things are impermanent!).

Re: Half a season unbeaten
Thanks be to Hull, if they hadn't have stuffed us 3-0 that day,who knows if SD would have made the crucial decision to shuffle the back 4 around which contributed massively to our 23 game unbeaten run and eventual promotion as Champions.

Wasnt it something similar with Leicester.
I'm sure their chairman had the whole team/staff blesses by a monk before the season started.

Waaaaaaaay too many vows that I would break
I think supporting Burnley would break most of them in one match.
