To open again. Signpost in window saying "staff wanted".
There are two rubbish bins in the little playground between the chippy and the Park View, both full of rubbish the day before matchday. It won't be pleasant in the area tomorrow

I'd heard it was re-opening - last home game it was open was Man U back in September.

Could do with getting the pub either reopened or bulldozed as well. Looks like an absolute eyesore, not a great look directly across from club shop, offices etc.

I called in the club shop yesterday and noticed the pub. What an eyesore it is. It was my first ever local when it was a really small pub but it really does need demolishing now.

Knock down the extension, sure, but the stone building is a bit of Burnley heritage.
It's such a shame the owners do not care one jot for the community.

The stone building was the entire pub until the brick extension was built in 1974.

Nothing will happen if the owners can’t find anyone to take the lease and I doubt that will happen.

Is it re-opening tomorrow, or once they’ve recruited staff? I’ve missed the Basil Fawlty of fish & chip shop proprietors, so I do hope it’s the same fella running it.......

The Park View would be a better fanzone than the tent.

The problem is that you don’t pay rates on a tent, and that you don’t have to run a tent for the two weeks between matches.

Not a lot tbh.
The club should have bought this years ago.

Not how it works - the pub company is asking that amount for the honour of being a tenant and being tied to a contract which obliges you to buy/sell fizzy lager in quantities that are very challenging to say the least.
I'm of the professional opinion that if anyone takes over the pub on terms currently on offer they will struggle to make it work as a business venture.

Don't think there's been an update since early May, sorry if I've missed one
Good news folks, just driven past Park View Chippy and it's open again!
Only a quick glance from the car, but I'm pretty sure it's the same woman behind the counter.

Has anyone heard any gossip or the latest with the pub? I'll be surprised if it ever reopens now.

I cannot see anyone taking on the Park View. The amount that needs spending on it, plus the tie in to the PubCo/brewery who own it and the ongoing rent etc. for what is 19 busy days a year just makes no sense. Even the club, who are cash rich at present see it is not worth investing in. I can see it being sold, demolished and a property developer building flats/houses on the land.

I was in the Chippy yesterday evening. Michelle was frying, and very good it was too. There opening times said shut a weekends, I assume that’ll be modified for match days.
