Dyche in talks with Wayne
Everton fan Wayne Snowdon is still pinching himself after taking his girlfriend to a restaurant to propose marriage and ending up with Burnley manager Sean Dyche paying the bill.
Snowdon, 32 and Tara Heaton, 31, had travelled from their home in Colne, Lancashire across the county border to Skipton in Yorkshire to find a restaurant still open during Covid restrictions.
But their romantic evening took an unexpected turn when Dyche and two friends sat down at a nearby table.
“I wasn’t sure it was him at first because he had a face mask on but I soon realised who it was,” said Snowdon. “I plucked up the courage to ask him for a photograph - Tara was too shy to join us - and he was fine about it although he made sure we were socially distanced.”
Shortly afterwards, Snowdon went down on one knee to pop the question. “Fortunately Tara said ‘yes.’ She went bright red at first but I think she was more embarrassed I had asked Sean Dyche for a photo.”
As the couple were in quiet corner, Snowdon thought their happy moment had gone unnoticed, but when he came to pay the bill he was in for a surprise.
“The staff said it had already been paid by Mr Dyche and his friends. I could not believe it. What an incredible gesture, he is a true gent.”
Snowdon, who works for a fabric company that supplies personal protective equipment (PPE) products, lost his 55-year-old father Tony in an industrial accident two months ago.
“It has been a tough time of late but this experience [in the restaurant] has really given us a lift.”
By chance, Everton are at Burnley on Saturday, so will Snowdon be switching allegiances?
“No, I’ve always been a blue. My dad was one too. I will just feel bad when we beat them on Saturday. Seriously though, it will be tough for us given our recent form.”
As for the wedding day, Snowdon said that might have to wait until 2022 because of Covid uncertainty and because he and Tara want their three children, Halle (one), Macie (four) and Ethan (eight) to be a bit older to appreciate the day.
The only potential area for discord is that Tara, a cook at a nursery, is a Liverpool fan.
“Yes, unfortunate that,” said Snowdon. “We have some banter about that but still manage to get on fine.”

Coming from Colne and supporting Everton, he wants to be ashamed of himself.
I’m surprised his missus said ‘yes’.

How did the dirty Colners get out of tier 3 past the border guards into tier 2?

If it was in a restaurant in Skipton, tier 2,then the only people on his table should have been family, so I would have thought it unlikely to be a business meeting.ZizkovClaret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 12:20 pmSounds like it could have been a business meeting....

Or the fact that the lucky couple broke the law whilst the rest of the country are trying to do their bit to minimize the impact of covid?

Its a good job he didn't propose in a restaurant in Bermondsey as he'd have booed for being a Marxist
