Re: Peter Lorimer
Sad news. It was reported a couple of weeks ago that he was fighting a serious illness. Top player with one hell of a shot on him.

90 miles per hour they used to call him
Re: Peter Lorimer
RIP it seems as though the Revie Leeds team are slowly passing away love them or hate them they were effective.
Re: Peter Lorimer
I've looked on YT but can't find any film of it but I recall one match in particular at Molineux where he was booming missiles in from ridiculous distances. I don't think he scored that day - but stand to be corrected - but the keeper (Parkes?) was out of it.
RIP

Re: Peter Lorimer
1 goal every 3 games at Leeds as a midfielder. A ratio matched in the following decade by John Wark at Ipswich. Both scored a lot of goals from outside the box. One of the more likeable Leeds players: hard but not thuggish.
Re: Peter Lorimer
One of my standout childhood memories was the Leeds Sunderland cup final. Like a lot of people I can probably recite that Leeds team... they were that established as household names. Lorimer was one of the stars of that team... I was so happy they lost.

Re: Peter Lorimer
Leeds gave the appearance of dominating for around a decade without ever winning that much. I think that was because the Leeds match was everyone’s cup final. The world then seemed divided between Leeds and Anti-Leeds...to the tune of the Dambusters

Made his debut at 15 year old and that was when the game
was a lot tougher!

Re: Peter Lorimer
Remember in the football programs for Burnley and they ask Colin Waldron what his favourite away ground is and it's Old Trafford, whatever.
... Leeds thought they'd do the same so they're interviewing and they ask what's your favourite away ground and they say Molineux...

Re: Peter Lorimer
A relative gentleman in a very hard team. I know we don’t like them much but Revie’s Leeds were a very good side. And I’d prefer the way they played then to the almost non-contact sport we have now. Can you imagine Bremner rolling over 10 times whilst screaming and holding his face?
Lorimer was a great player in a team of pretty damn good players.
