McNeil just didn't seem to be able to get into the game, whereas JBG was everywhere first half, left, right, middle etc.

Dyche 3 - sorry but the Barnes sub was the completely wrong one and that lost us the game unfortunately. After that we got dragged even deeper and resorted to hoof ball. Shame really as first half we played really well but we are coming away with a hugely disappointing 0 points against a pretty poor Brighton team. We can as much squad depth as possible but Dyche will still continue to bring Barnes on as first choice sub so what’s the point?

Vydra made in instant difference to the team, Dyche has let us down today.

Pope 6 - no chance with the goals and very little to do otherwise.
Lowton 7 - showed good feet on occasion and solid enough defensively.
Tarkowski 7 - not a lot wrong but should have done better with the second chance in the first half. A couple of good blocks also.
Mee 7 - largely untroubled but should have scored.
Taylor 6 - a gold outlet in the attacking sense. He and McNeil hugely culpable for the first. Poor communication.
Gudmunson 6 - lively and some great footwork but his final product again wasnt up to standard unfortunately. Floaty crosses the strikers can do little with and although he hit the post first half he should have been playing Wood in.
Westwood 5 - only noticed he was on the pitch when he was taking g set pieces.
Cork 5 - we failed to get a foot hold in the centre. A couple of weal efforts.
McNeil5 - not involved enough and switched off massively for their first. Needed to do a defensive job for the team there....
Wood 5 - very quiet.
Rodriguez 5 - see Wood.

Barnes 5 - a couple of decent moments but completely the wrong sub.

A game of missed chances and poor substitutions from.us.
They are not a very good side but still came away with 3 points and Dyche got done by Potter, which is slightly concerning.

Without strengthening it will be a long season but then we knew that. Poor goals to concede but we could have had more first half with a little luck. 2nd half poor. They make tactical changes we bring on Barnes. Vydra should have been brought on far sooner ( again) or started.

Good first half.
Got back into it in the second. A 15/20 spell around the time they bought a 2nd sub on lost us that game.
Incredibly disappointed.

Poor management and lack of squad depth cost us this game. Everyone in the ground could see we needed an extra man in midfield early on the 2nd half - Bissouma (and Lallana) ran the game.

Everyone is saying we played well in first half.
I cant see that. We were slow and predictable. Scored early.
They brought on subs and changed tactics. We just plodded on … long balls no plan B.
Very worrying.

Correct, we needed 2 subs at HT, Brownhill for Cork Vydra for Jay Rod......its beyond me why Vydra didn't start with Wood, they were our best two up front last season, sorry Mr Dyche you got it wrong AGAIN

Pope 6 - one poor kick but did try to release the ball quickly at times. Nothing he could do with goals
Lowton 6 - defensively ok, not much going forward
Tarkowski 6 - ok although I’d like to see the goals again
Mee 5 - again I’d like to see the goals again. They both canner into his area before being finished.
Taylor 4 - going forward he was ok but defensively shocking
JBG 6 - not to too bad but I’d that good enough really?
Westwood 6 - first half he ran the midfield but as soon as Lallana came on he was outclassed
Cork 6 - as Westwood
McNeil 5 - did nothing
Rodriguez 5 - did nothing
Wood 6 - tried but got no service or support

Barnes 3 - days are up. No improvement on last season really

Ran out of steam after 60 minutes. Lallana coming on for them made a difference, our lack of squad depth showed up today. Barnes's best days are behind him. We should have had the game won by half time. It's a shame really as we started the game so well. Onwards and upwards.

They used their subs effectively in the 2nd half after we dominated them first half.

Unlucky not to go in 2-3 up. Got to take chances at this level.

Wrong sub came on in Barnes everyone could see that part from Dyche, crying out for invention on the floor from Vyds on 60 mins, he got 5 minutes, come on Sean you can do better than this, are we back to playing Wood and Barnes when Wood and Vydra did so well last season?

10 of us heard the team news before the game, none of us could believe vydra wasn't starting... Perhaps we're all wrong, but I doubt it.

Let's be honest the best team lost. Clarets were much the better side basically throughout, but mainly in the first half. Yet Brighton stole the points with their only 2 incisive attacks (other than very decent corners) in the entire game. I feel I can't be churlish because we do it all the time and have been doing it for 6 years. Playing second fiddle and yet winning games, so fair enough! I was actually heartened by how good we looked tbh and by how good JBG was in particular, but ultimately we got nowt from a lower table rival and that's got to be a real worry.
