Tonight's footy 29/12
Only 2 games in the Prem, and you'd expect wins for Chelsea and City.
In the Champ Boro, Coventry, and unfortunately Rovers will be hoping for wins to keep their respective play-off or auto charges on course.
In L1 Vokes and Wycombe head to Ipswich, Morecambe-Crewe is a huge basement battle, and Stanley visit Shrews.

Yes, you'd expect the PL games to go to the big boys (and drag Brentford a little further downwards).
I'm hoping Barnsley can upset the expectations at Deadwood, but I doubt it.
A win for Stanley at Shrewsbury would keep them within touching distance with the play off positions.

Re: Tonight's footy 29/12
When we were last in the championship we’d lost the same amount of matches as they have now (5), and then went on a 23 unbeaten run.
The pressure and expectations ramp up after Christmas and you’d expect a big crowd at Ewood so let’s see how they handle it.

Re: Tonight's footy 29/12
8.15 ko for Brentford v Citeh is ridiculous. Yet again no consideration for the travelling fans, some of whom will be working tomorrow. It’s not even as though there is a sensible reason for it. The most you can watch of the alternate ko is the 15 mins during HT of your first choice game.

Re: Tonight's footy 29/12
What is it I find so irritating about Andy Townsend? I think for a start I just find him dull and uninteresting as a personality. Secondly he talks as if he is imparting some great wisdom and insight when in fact he is stating the bleeding obvious. Thirdly he just drones on and on.

Chelsea lead. Lukaku header after elbowing Maupay to the ground from a corner. VAR but goal stands and I agree. Maupay very soft.
James off injured after tackle from behind by Lamptey.

No idea what Maupay is bleating about.
If he tried to attack the ball instead of grabbing his opponent, he might do a bit better.

Maybe Rovers won't close in on the top 2 after all.

I’ve got the volume down to a level that I can almost tune out the Andy Townsend drone, but can still hear the crowd.

Re: Tonight's footy 29/12
Wasn’t it Maupay that tried to block off Tarky for the opening goal of the season?minnieclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 29, 2021 8:00 pmChelsea lead. Lukaku header after elbowing Maupay to the ground from a corner. VAR but goal stands and I agree. Maupay very soft.
James off injured after tackle from behind by Lamptey.
Seems an odd tactic putting him up against players the size of Tarky & Lukaku

4 mins injury time. Brighton score in injury time, celebrate for 90 seconds.
Dean plays 4 mins and 1 second.

Another moaning manager a la Klopp. Maybe eventually it has an adverse affect on the team.

Re: Tonight's footy 29/12
Millwall bring a 15 year old on for the final moments at Coventry, Zak Lovelace is a name to keep an eye on in the coming years.
Rovers win again, but Middlesbrough under Chris Wilder might be the ones to watch, only 6 points off the automatic slots now, it looks like he's working his magic again.

The Undead just one point off the top now.

The unthinkable is if we pass them on the way down, but there's a long way to go, yet.
