Hoping there is a clause in that stupidly long contract

Post by Superjohnnyfrancis » Sat Jan 08, 2022 3:05 pm

Already the happy clappers are out and defending the indefensible.

Players have clearly downed tools.

Lost for words.

can't see how anyone can defend SD yes he has done a good job up to this season but results, form and performances tell you his time is up no manager stays at a club for ever, time for a change there are a lot of up and coming managers in the lower leagues give one a chance they can't do any worse than the current coaching team

Perhaps they aren't as fickle as you are, and perhaps they are as entitled as you to give their own views?

If you could extend Sean Dyche’s contract from an additional four years to six years right now, I’d want it doing immediately!

Referenced ‘happy clappers’ a few times today, Burnley play crap but you want to have a dig at fellow supporters? Weird

The players that have ‘downed tools’ probably should have been replaced a season or two ago.

I’d rather see them leave on a free than Dyche lose his job.

If you don’t sign a contact and show your commitment on the pitch, then leave.

Shame Dyche hasn’t been backed to bring in players so the ones that have ‘downed tools’ can be dropped.

My mate typed this message as I was clapping…

This labelling of fellow supporters with opposing views to your own, is bizarre. There are no happy clappers, nor negative, simply supporters with differing views!

What we can probably all agree on is that we’re in a really bad place. I can accept that but what really concerns me is whether we have the right people at the top to stop the rot.

The biggest test of Pace and ALK begins right now and through to the end of this summer’s window.

Our squad simply can’t do what’s required anymore for two big reasons - 1) age and 2) an alarming dip in effort owing to too many contractual uncertainties.

I’ve seen another post suggesting Dyche has rebuilt us before, so he can do it again. I can see the logic in that but it would require a turnover of players Dyche has never presided over before.

Dyche was the one signing and giving contracts to these old players you claim can't do what's required.

You can sit, clap and sing until you can't sing anymore, this group is an appalling mess, your singing won't change that, maybe singing with your eyes closed will ease the pain though.

Disagree with your final point because they can do worse. The rest of your post is spot on, however. Suggested to family and friends the break should have come as soon as the last season was over but they weren't overly impressed. Don't know what some of them think currently because I've not spent enough time in their company but I find the current regime difficult to defend, even taking into account 'what they have done for us'.
The time in football when sentimentality had a part to play is a long, long time ago. It's all about results. Had Tarkowski netted a simple chance at the end and then we'd go on to rag a win via penalties the mood on here wouldn't have been as vitriolic as it is now. We've not had a 'result' for a very long time and the players don't suggest there might be one imminently. It's turgid, uninspiring stuff that will continue to drive away more people than it will attract. A change of direction is urgently needed and preparations should be ongoing for a start next August in a lower division because the division we are in currently doesn't suit us anymore.

I think they really mean Dyche supporters Tony. The amount of negativity for our manager is a bit weird to me. Nearly every single "Dyche Out" poster sems to think we've always played hoofball, we've always been rigid and predictable (try telling g Chelsea how predictable we were when they were picking out Ward's better that pust us 2-0 up at Stamford Bridge) and Dyche knows no other way to play.

We are suffering from under investment on the pitch over the last couple of seasons. Six of our starters were part of that side that finished 7th.

We've got players playing important roles who don't even want to be at the club....

Clap until your hands turn purple and your fingers fall off, pray for a Christmas miracle that we'll finally pass the football,

I will join you in pray, infact let's have a minutes round of applause in hope Jack Cork's legs come back and he stops giving the ball away.

The ones that defended the Board's lack of investment in cm just before and just after we got into Europe. We knew that Christmas that we would stay up. It was the perfect time to invest.

Too many over the hill players. Fans sticking behind them and referencing things they did four years ago. The squad needs a complete overhaul, wouldn’t be bothered if Dyche left at this stage he’s a busted flush.

Today even with a depleted side we should have been streets ahead of Huddersfield, we should have been tearing strips of them to ease our frustration and boost confidence; instead that was the sort of performance that brings back some very dark memories. We lacked character and fight… the one thing SD teams have always brought to the table, But sadly not any more on recent performances. For me he needs to sort it now or be honourable and discuss his package for stepping aside, this cannot keep being allowed to happen.

probably close to £30m spent on Rodriguez and Vydra combined, neither are good enough to replace Barnes.

Rodriguez was 29 years old when he was signed, why was a younger player not targeted, Imagine if we'd have spent that £9m on someone coming into their prime years now....

I agree that some of Dyche’s signings have been absolutely horrific and woeful, but there were signs this summer that he wants a fresher squad with Cornet, Roberts, and Collins.

Too little too late of course, but things could have different had we done that 3/4 years earlier.

Another possible issue is that this squad has pretty much been slogged to death for two years - limited rotation, ageing players and too few first team ready players brought in to ease the burden.

Dyche has a rather old fashioned view (in football terms) with regard to player welfare, which I’ve heard a few ex pro’s now being critical of. I probably agree with Dyche but if some professionals don’t, I wonder how such views might sit with some of our players.

Yes and this just highlights how much we've wasted on mediocre signings, to put it into context CP picked up Olise for £8m, and he turned their game on it's head at Millwall today, plus he'll only improve as he gets more games in their first team.

To many at BFC in the comfort zone on hefty contracts, and that includes the management team, hence why there's a distinct lack of hunger nowadays.

An excellent post. Sean Dyche has been superb for Burnley, but sadly he seems to have lost the players, the lack of commitment so typical of Dyche teams is now evident. We now have a similar situation to when Wenger stayed at Arsenal for far too long (apart from winning all those trophies during his earlier years), with half the fans wanting him to stay because of past acheivements and half wanting him to go because of current failings.

Don't get me wrong I thought Stephens was a terrible signing at the tine (I'd rather have used that to bolster the deal to keep Hendrick) but what you are saying makes you look like a moron

I think, sadly, that many of the players now believe we are down and consequently their confidence in the near miraculous powers of the management team is no longer there. As others have said, the contractual position of many players probably compounds this. Pound for pound we have just about the weakest squad in the PL and without self belief, commitments and focus it is inevitable that we will look absolutely dire. I may be completely wrong but I don’t sense that SD has the fire in his belly either A while ago he said that he couldn’t see himself as a football manager forever and maybe he is beginning to think about life after management or at the very least another challenge. It is a shame, but generally managerial careers end like political ones: in failure. I have no idea whether we can find the right man for the rebuilding job, but I just can’t see SD rolling up his sleeves for us in the Championship again after six years at the top level. I am not being critical of him. Having run a bigger organisation than Burnley FC for longer, albeit subject to much less day to day public scrutiny, there just comes the point where it is difficult to ‘go again’. I do wonder whether we have now reached the point where Dyche and Burnley are no longer good for each other. On a more positive note, the past nine years has been a glorious period in the club’s history and we have had a brilliant time. In terms of what he has achieved against the odds I would say without doubt that Dyche has been one of the top three managers in the club’s history and brought times back to Turf Moor which we never thought we would see. He will always be a genuine club legend.

What are you on? How did Stephens cost 5m and Coutinho only 4? Can you explain that.

Don't get me wrong I thought Stephens was a terrible signing at the tine (I'd rather have used that to bolster the deal to keep Hendrick) but what you are saying makes you look like a moron
Coutinho is a loan deal, Villa paying £125k a week with no loan fee.

Villa are paying coutinho less than we pay Stephens. **** off!
Stephens has been here longer so the wages have accumulated, hence why the figure will be higher.
Coutinho is only at Villa for a few months but his wages will only be slightly less because he's on £380k a week at Barca and Villa are paying a % of it, I think it's £200k a week they're coughing up plus whatever loan fee they've probably paid.

Spot on

How long ago was this performance?

That fact is we are boring, predictable and turgid and have been for a very long time. We look devoid of any sort of idea, and not just against Premier League opposition, either - even Rochdale’s midfield looked more dynamic than ours in the League Cup.

A huge part of that is Mike Garlick’s fault and a huge part of that is also Sean Dyche’s fault.

Yes. A while ago. And Pope Cork Lowton Mee TRks all played in that game and we added Wood the game after. That's the side largely still playing now five seasons later almost. And you wonder why they can't do that any more?

Plus we had different players available to allow that unpredicta ility. We've played generally pretty well for most of the tine until really this seaaon and a couple of spells in other seasons.

We're not generally as bad as some will try to have us believe but there is something not quite right at the moment.

Go on, I’ll nibble…

If you could extend Sean Dyche’s contract from an additional four years to six years right now, I’d want it doing immediately!
Insane. I hope Pace and co aren’t as blinded.
