OT - TV repairs

Post by burnmark » Mon Feb 07, 2022 10:26 pm

I’m looking to purchase a second hand TV for my ‘man cave’. Looking at eBay there are a number available for bargain prices (£20-£30) but have cracked screens. Therefore, my request for advice or experience is as follows:

- has anyone done similar and replaced the screen from a local provider? Is it cost effective or am I better of buying new?

- are there any local business who may deal in this? I believe Geoff Hurlestone has now ceased trading.

Many thanks

The last time I got 1 cheap were years ago by going to my local HWRC during a quiet period with some bottles of ale & a understanding but nowadays people probably sell on FB marketplace & eBay so there’s less about getting disposed of.

Usually not possible to source the replacement parts any more to fixed broken screens but if it's a different fault it may be possible fix.

Try Brians TV Repairs 321 Manchester Rd on the right as you go up Manchester Rd after Calderbrook Ave. He has a shop full of TVs some I think working and for sale and some I think he uses for spares for repairs.
