Re: wise transfer
Surely Wise would have acquired the bank details from Bulb. I'd be suspicious. Perhaps she should talk to her bank.

Re: wise transfer
I've dealt with a company now called Wise- was Transferwise. Its very efficient and cheap way to transfer money abroad in local currencies. A much cheaper way than using a bank to get money to relatives abroad. I dont believe they are involved in UK energy supply in any way.
https://wise.com/
Its possible they may be involved in transferring debits/credits between energy companies in the UK in the current climate where energy suppliers are going bust and customers being automatically transferred.

Re: wise transfer
My energy supplier Avro went bust last year and I got automatically transferred to Octopus; it went quite smoothly considering the turmoil and my full credit went into my new account.
It looks like Bulb had special problems because it owed so much to customers (Id guess it had deliberately overestimated DDs so people built up big credits over last summer. It looks like no other energy supplier wanted to take on the customers because of the debt and that the Government may be involved (using taxpayers cash I guess). There's some info at https://www.ft.com/content/f4c67d71-4c8 ... d14915181a
I'm guessing that the government/receiver is using (transfer)wise to do the settling of credits because an alternative supplier hasnt come forward to take the customers yet (and normal they would organise the credit transfer to the new account rather than refund money). It wont affect continuity of supply but at some stage there'll have to be a supplier to bill her.
