Michael Keane
What’s going on at Everton with Michael Keane.
Should we offer to bring him back after Christmas.

Re: Michael Keane
Tarkowski and Coady playing and Everton currently have one of the best defensive records in the PL.
Absolutely no way we could afford Keane's wages.

Re: Michael Keane
I'd have him back in a flash, but I'll bet he earns 3-4 times our highest earner and would easily get another premier league club

Re: Michael Keane
Propbably mentioned somewhere else......
I was also wondering about Keane but also Wood. I think he would score loads with the current supply? Just a thought. WOuld he come back in Jan and would we want him?

Re: Michael Keane
Why would Everton want to loan him out or why would Keane want to be loaned out to a lower division? What is being suggested is like us loaning out Charlie Taylor to a League 1 team just because he's no longer in the first 11.

Re: Michael Keane
That was my immediate thought. We’d have to get the ball in to the box for Wood to score. Creating chances from all our possession is one of our weaknesses, I’d say.
I really wouldn’t want either though!
- We have enough loans
- we have decent players at CB already. Players who might stay with us and be part of our future if we continue to develop them
- less depth at striker but Newcastle aren’t going to spend £25m and loan him back, he wouldn’t want to come and a fairly static striker that relies heavily on crosses vs build up play isn’t going to suit our game - plus he’s barely scored a goal in 2 years!

Re: Michael Keane
I can't quite put my finger on it but I don't think a longing for the comfort of the recent past will be part of our transfer strategy.

Did we ever replace John Deary?

Last sentence bang on the money for me…. They absolutely ruin ‘em. They “evertonise” them.SouthLondonexile wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 9:19 amWhat’s going on at Everton with Michael Keane.

Re: Michael Keane
I’m not sure his career is ‘ruined’ they just bought a better player. We know from our own experiences that Tarkowski is the better defender.

Re: Michael Keane
What's going on at Everton?
Sadly they're improving and aren't going to be the same car crash they were last season
As for Keane, he's suffered from playing under numerous different managers in a short space of time, so his confidence is probably shot to pieces.
At present he's being kept out of the first team by a solid defensive cup in Tarks and Coady, but at some point he'll get another chance.
He was wanted on loan by West Ham and Forest for this season but Everton didn't let him go out.
He won't drop down a league anytime soon.

Re: Michael Keane
Upon signing for them Chris Wood was Newcastle's highest earnernon £100,000 a week. Don't think he'll be heading back, thank God!

Re: Michael Keane
Let’s see what they do to Dwight. Bizarre move for him going to Everton. A confidence player like him ending up there is absolutely puzzling. His advisers need potting.
And as for Wood scoring a few in this current side…

he wouldn’t have a clue what was going on let alone getting into a scoring position. Fortunately, that ship has well and truly sailed-no place for him here. VK wants footballers.

Re: Michael Keane
Its a new era, we have seen what the younger quicker players can bring, no merit whatsoever in taking backwards steps.

Playing at a lower below though. No-one knows whether any of our signings are good enough to play in the Prem.Wile E Coyote wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 10:23 pmIts a new era, we have seen what the younger quicker players can bring, no merit whatsoever in taking backwards steps.
Re: Michael Keane
If our Sean turns up somewhere before the January window closes a loan till the end of the season might suit both parties.
Re: Michael Keane
Re. Dwight. Probably doubled or trebled his wages going to Everton. That’s why he is there.bobinho wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 9:33 pmLet’s see what they do to Dwight. Bizarre move for him going to Everton. A confidence player like him ending up there is absolutely puzzling. His advisers need potting.

Re: Michael Keane
I was talking to an Everton season ticket holder about all things Everton yesterday at Edge Hill University. He feels sorry for Keane, and says he was brought in to be the leader and organiser for the defence, but it didn’t suit him to be commanding his team mates. Basically the same reason they came for Tarks, he now sees no way back for Keane at Everton. But he was honest enough to say Everton fans generally expect to be beating everyone and think they should be competing for top three… which he is quick to admit is a ridiculous attitude, and that he had only eyes for Leeds last season as he could not see them finishing above us. As for Everton’s finances he said there is very little we don’t know… they’ve invested heavily on players with no sell on value chasing the dream and its cost them serious money. He doesn’t know how close to the bottom line they are… but needed the accountants to shuffle things around to have any leg room this season and the accountant was not happy with what he had been asked to do. I returned home last night to find that their main guy resigned yesterday.
