Been waiting for a position since leaving he Toffees, but if Everton have to work down their list it could be a master stroke, they could have compo in a couple of days.

That is a blast from the past. I was over the moon with the signing of Grant at the time. I assumed he was still at Everton in the background.

Me too, he had a touch of class about him. Under appreciated by many, similar to Paul Cook and David Jones.

Christ he is only 7 years older than me. Why do so many footballers age so badly??

I'd like to think I look better for my age than he does but then maybe I am just in denial.

He’s 2 years older than me

Could have sworn that gap was bigger when he was playing for us

I think it's partly explained by the stopping of training every day. Having said that, Grant is still a coach, so it's not like he's sat around in his armchair smoking fags all day!

Staying with the Everton theme, have you seen Neville Southall lately? My goodness!

We're a long time in the final phase of being a football supporter.

We start off being younger than the players, then for a while we're the same age or similar to the current players, then one day you realise you're older than anyone left in the squad.

My own realisation came when Grezza moved on. It's at that point I first felt old!

I could never understand the lack of appreciation for Cook, Grant and Jones. Three outstanding signings for us.

All could control the ball and pass it to one their teammates - sounds simple but surprising how many players struggle !
Jones in particular was a really important signing for us. He started so many moves for us and was integral to the success of that first Dyche team.
Never understood those fans who could not see what he brought to the team.

I liked Jones. Marney would not have been so effective without him. Great partnership.

Totally agree with that but what a partnership they were on that first promotion season under Dyche.

Only interim until they find a permanent manager, but still a significant milestone. Given the way they operate and what they (or rather, the owner) stands for, FGR were always probably the most inevitable team appoint a female coach. People have even mentioned it on here that they'd expect it from them. Even though she's effectively just overseeing pre-season, good luck to her.

The issue won't be her and her skill/talent level, it will be the mens attitude to her. I think football will highlight how tough it can be for female managers in other industries as well.
