TV LICENCE - BBC

Post by basil6345789 » Fri Feb 17, 2023 5:16 pm

I've had enough of The BBC - now they're pulling-out of covering The Masters after 56 years. How do I cancel my TV Licence, please?

Go on the BBC website and tick a box saying you don't want/need one.

I don't think Basil agrees with box ticking.

Get in touch with them (online/phone) to cancel and, if you pay by DD, cancel your DD.
When you pay by DD you are always paying several months in advance (forgotten how much but at least 3 months I recall) - so you will get a refund on that (as you will if you've paid a year lump sum and have some months still to go to renewal).

It's best to let them know rather than just cancel the DD as you may lose your advanced DD payments elsewise.

Word of warning, Basil; cancelling your tv license also means you can’t watch RuPaul’s Drag race etc on the iplayer.

Hardly anyone on the Scillies watches TV. This is the reason that only a couple of dozen out of a population of 2k have bought a license.

Obviously.

Or maybe they stopped believing the urban myth of the van being able to pick up signals to tell them what you're watching and from which house.

This is consistent with most of your posts. Just rubbish. However to be fair, your contribution to the vinyl post was first class.

Still good value for money IMO, £13 a month for what we get on TV, Radio and the website advert free is money well spent

But more than all that the "soft power" the BBC gives us as country is something that will be forever lost once it goes, a shame the world service is being cut as is BBC world news around the world we as a county will be poorer for it
