Making A Murderer - Update

Post by Darthlaw » Fri Aug 12, 2016 11:29 pm

For those who may have taken an interest in the Netflix series, Making a Murderer, at the start of the year.

Say what you like about the cleverly presented programme, the facts around Dassey's coerced confession and rancid advice from his first legal representation speak for themselves.

Brendan Dassey's conviction has now been overturned, rightly so in terms of the lack of due legal process in his case. His first defense lawyer's actions were deplorable IMO and have now seen Dassey walk free unless prosecutors refile charges in the next 90 days.

Done some years for crimes they've wrongly been convicted of that family.

Thanks for the update! The whole Making a Murderer series made my blood boil, as I'm sure it did with many people. I just couldn't believe some of the things going on. And while I think there are certainly some suspicious goings-on around Steven Avery's conviction, it was Brendan Dassey's conviction that upset me the most. The kid clearly had learning problems and the confession that was coerced out of him was totally wrong, as evidenced by the fact that he thought he'd be able to go back to school once he'd made it. Brilliant news if he's to be released.

If you enjoyed this documentary then you must watch Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills.

Everyone could see it was a stitch up from episode 1. I've never been so annoyed watching a program.

Big fan of MAM. Glad he's getting out. How he was pressured into that confession by those two blokes was absolutely disgraceful.

Read a fair bit about the Kiszko case as well, due to it having a few connections with Todmorden. Absolutely frightening how the police got away with what they did.

Sorry for the bump. Just finished watching this and I'm disgusted.

Please someone tell me it's all fiction or they missed something obvious out?

Genuinely baffled.

Thanks for sharing this. Eye opening to say the least. Doesn't surprise me that the show omitted or was edited to make Steven appear more innocent than he was. Scary stuff.

After reading that for a good hour several things don't stack up for me still, but im glad I've seen another viewpoint here.

But even if he was a sexual preditor or whatever, there is still no evidence to suggest he murdered her.

If you liked this, I would highly recommend The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst.

With regards to the Leslie Molseed murder, I believe one of the senior investigators was also involved in a series of blunders regarding the investigation into the Yorkshire Ripper case.

Yep it's worth watching for sure - drags on a bit as they stretch it out unnecessarily

Jinx is better

I personally thought it was a bit too slow.

I preferred The Jinx.

Paradise Lost trumps the lot.

Jinx was good, The Staircase is also decent.

I'm not a fan of sci-fi, so couldn't get into that.

Just watched the jinx and while it was good I though Making a murderer was better! A lot more tense and disbelief moments! Anything else out there similar that people can recommend please? Ta

Not the same kinda thing but I think you'd enjoy "The real goodfella" there are links for it on youtube even. It's the story of Henry Hill and the real story behind what happens in the Goodfellas film.
