Poor Stewards....

Post by Here's-Johnny » Tue Apr 11, 2023 10:47 pm

As it was a boring first half the stewards being marched up and down the Longside Perimeter caught my eye.. can't believe some big tall hefty lads were being made to sit on what is basically a foot high "Max" flimsy seat to face the crowd. The poor chap we saw.. stared at it for a moment or two and nearly fell on is Ar&e trying to sit on it ...not a good look and an accident waiting to happen. Their flexing Generals strutting up and down barking their orders p!ss me right off.

On stewards; I get really ticked off watching stewards getting between fans and their own players, why? They are celebrating for crying out loud. On Sunday one stopped Ramsdale giving his jersey to a fan and then took it from him to hand over. What an over-reaction this has become.

The steward didn't look upset...just perplexed as to how he was gonna sit down on it.

If they sat any higher they would obscure some fan's view.

By the way, why were we warned about invading the pitch last night ?
Was it ever a possibility at this stage of the season ? If you want to
plant an idea in people's heads, then make an "out of the blue" announcement.

Problem is. Ramsdale goes to the crowd. He gets swarmed on by all of the fans. Someone gets hurt.

Less likely to happen if the steward does it. And the kid still gets the shirt.

I have a feeling it may have been a dry run for the final game of the season.

The stewards that come out of their gangway and stand of the steps at the side or right at the edge of the gangway area blocking peoples views annoy me. If you are a steward you should stay in your gangway and you shouldn’t be blocking anyones view!
Also in the jimmy mac lower the steward on the turnstiles took my card and scanned it himself on Monday, I thought they weren’t meant to do that? If not I don’t get why, it speed up the whole process for everyone. It was much better. All turnstile stewards need to do this.

The stewards standing out in the rain and howling wind half an hour before the start, looked pretty much like they wanted to be somewhere else. With good reason.

Boro made the same announcement 3 times on Friday. I think after all the pitch invasion incidents last season authorities are clamping down to avoid players being involved as victim or perpetrator.

Thought this would be another Rovers thread where we pity their set of amateurs that have lost 8x the number of games we have this season.

While on the subject of stewards, in the section of the Bob Lord I sit in, stewards are doing nothing about moving people who stand around talking at the bottom of the steps leading upto the seats, before and after the game.
At the end of the match, they stand overlooking the pitch to clap the team off, blocking/slowing down others who just want a safe exit. For some supporters who have walking difficulties, it's bad enough for them getting trying to walk out of the stand without people making it even harder.
Surely stewards are there to ensure supporters safety. Why can't the people standing around, not stay by their seat and clap the team off.

Lost all credibility IMHO with the phrase " as ut was a boring first half."

Speaking of which, why did the speaker system go on about people going on the pitch at the end?
Lots of puzzled looks from where I was sitting

Just a thought - last game of the season we may be relegating Cardiff, so not a good idea to run on the pitch at the end.
