Bank of Dave 2…
Netflix have apparently commissioned a sequel to the first Bank of Dave film. Burnley will again be seen all over the world. How cool is that!

Re: Bank of Dave 2…
As much as it's good to see Burnley portrayed positively I'm struggling to imagine what the sequel will be about ? I mean the struggle against the big bad banking overlords has been covered in the first film and "Man opens up small bank having obtained the necessary permissions" doesn't really get the anticipatory juices flowing does it ?

Re: Bank of Dave 2…
Perhaps it will be a prequel and Dave will be borrowing to buy cars and do them up, before selling for a profit!
Re: Bank of Dave 2…
I read recently ( cannot remember where ) that the " plot " is when Dave went up against the Payday Loan companies.

I don’t think it needs a sequel.

Dave's lugubrious assistant, also David, will be the star this time, played by Rob Brydon

…The Friends of Owen Coyle….
Or if that’s too contentious, how about
…The Kompany of Wolves.

Re: Bank of Dave 2…
They already exhausted fact and went into fiction in the first film.
If you accept that the second film may no longer be a "based on true events" movie and is just a made up tale about a rags to riches story, yet still promoting Burnley, then what's the harm?

Just enjoy the ride, positivity around our club, and chill out. Would you rather a documentary about Kitty Usher and fat lad Higginbotham.Stalbansclaret wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 3:07 pmAs much as it's good to see Burnley portrayed positively I'm struggling to imagine what the sequel will be about ? Any positive publicity for Burnley is always welcome. I really enjoyed the first one.

Re: Bank of Dave 2…
It’s always hard to follow up great films, which I think Bank of Dave was. Cannot imagine the storyline for the sequel and hope they don’t ruin it but it’s worth a bash and any publicity for our great town is worth celebrating.Stalbansclaret wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 3:07 pmAs much as it's good to see Burnley portrayed positively I'm struggling to imagine what the sequel will be about ? Each to his own and all that but imho the film was a long long way from being “great”.
I enjoyed the clips of burnley but the actual film was utter nonsense

Re: Bank of Dave 2…
Sure it won’t be winning any Oscar’s, but I thought it was a great, family-friendly, feel good film - decent story line, heart warming, nearly true British film. Reminded me a bit of the Full Monty in that sense.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2023 8:53 amEach to his own and all that but imho the film was a long long way from being “great”.

Maybe you don’t have to watch the other selection of 12 and below films available on Sky/Netflix on a Saturday night though…

As said each to his own but one thing it wasn’t is “nearly true” !NewClaret wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2023 9:07 amSure it won’t be winning any Oscar’s, but I thought it was a great, family-friendly, feel good film - decent story line, heart warming, nearly true British film. And if the second film is about pay day loans and his fight against them then guess it will be completely fictional.
Thing I will never get about him is that on his doorstep in Colne was founded what is now one of the fast growing and successful credit unions in the Uk. That credit union actually does everything he was trying to achieve in both films. For whatever reason I have never know him to mention the credit union or have any involvement in it which is strange if he really believes in providing an alternative to the banks and pay day lenders rather than just being a TV celebrity.

Re: Bank of Dave 2…
The first instalment was the worst film I’ve never seen.

Listened to him on James English podcast.
Unsure on him, clearly does a lot of good but full of hiself and talks about how many helicopters he has and how many tv shows he’s been on and how many awards he’s won.

Re: Bank of Dave 2…
It’ll be Tank of Dave and he’s now selling tanks instead of minibuses, and drives a convoy of them painted claret and blue to Ukraine.

Re: Bank of Dave 2…
As the first film was as much fiction as fact the sequel may be about anything
Re: Bank of Dave 2…
Manc of Dave will show how he plotted the recruitment of Vincent Kompany by sending a minibus to chauffeur drive him and his family to Turf Moor.
