I know nothing about Golf
For those that do, will McIlroy win the tournament?

Some money staked

He has the talent .....the answer lies between his ears.

I think it's good he's playing with the Bible thumper (Scheffler) today...reckon the winner will be one of these two.

Last three hole's could make this a good back end watch and be decisive in which player wins, I believe Mcllroy has the best game suited to the last three holes but "obviously", depends how the players are by those three holes but if it's close still like now he has a great chance.

Rory McIlroy is currently a board representative on the PGA Tour, representing the players. I think the answer lies in the boardroom: far too much time spent at meetings, far too much pressure being put on him to hold everyone else up (he was a wonderful and far much time representing the PGA tour during the LIV dispute) attending press conferences and interviews. He just needs to get on the range and back to doing what he does best. The majors will flow again.

Comms keep saying his putter was cold. Nothing wrong with his putting, he never put a chip within 40ft to give his putter a chance.
Clark not home yet but I’ll be surprised if he screws this up.

Are you sure ?
He had a number of putts within 40ft from what I saw.
Nobody in the last 3 or 4 groups scored that well really or sank many putts. But they had the toughest of conditions as the wind was much stronger for them and you can’t really see on tv how much harder this is for them - including the putting when the greens were so fast and pin positions so tough.

Rory did very little wrong - he played brilliantly and lost by one shot to Clark who also played brilliantly. We are talking fractions between them. Effectively a missed short putt for Rory on a par 5 and a couple of great saving scrambles from Clark when he was in trouble. That was the difference.

Just makes good headlines to focus on Rory not winning a major again but he’s doing very little or anything wrong.

Wouldn’t argue with any of that except I still feel his approaches never threatened. You can’t tell the lay of the land, or the wind, watching on tv. The holes must have been well hidden as before play started comms were expecting -10 to win but you can’t expect to win a major with an evens final round. He did play well but the best man won.

I think Rory played a very mature 'US open' round (made no mistakes), but he didn't get a birdy after the 1st hole and left himself with lots of putts to at least threaten but never really looked like sinking one. He was about 40th for the week putting. I think he played the right game plan, but Clark didn't drop as many shots as would have been expected and Rory just couldn't take advantage of a lot of his opportunities. Looks like his game is in a much better place though and fingers crossed for the Open in a few weeks.

Clark had an even final round and he won !!

Tough greens and pin positions as you expect in US Open but it was even harder for the last few groups.

Rory played better than Clark in terms of his approaches to the green in the final round - the stats show that.

It really was down to one bad putt from Rory and 2 amazing saves from Clark where he chipped out of horrible trouble greenside to a couple of feet.

Nothing between them at all but the credit to Clark is how he held his nerve when he was in a position he had never been in his life with Rory and Scheffler chasing him.

Same story as St Andrews. He waited for the others to lose it instead of going and winning it. Playing two par 5 s in one over was never going to do it.

Rory lost by 1 sĥot, over 72 holes and I believe he lost a stroke on the 18th, Round 1, with an air shot.
