50 years ago as a football daft young lad my dreams of going to wembley to see my beloved Clarets in a FA cup final we're shattered by Newcastle United and Malcolm MacDonald.And to add insult to injury they beat us in the Texaco cup final and drew 1-1 in the last game of the season costs us a place in Europe for the following season.Keeping scrapbooks at the time I could never look at the pages of the semi final defeat for years with the headlines Super Mac dents the Clarets dream of Wembley.There was a little retribution the season after with a 4-1 victory in a rain sodden Turf Moor a Peter Noble hat trick and a Leighton James the scorers and a certain Malcolm Macdonald being substituted to thunderous cheers from the home crowd.As years went by my disappointment did eventually fade away until 2 years ago when the Geordies sent us down although for me personally not with the same heartbreak as the semi final defeat.Heres hoping today can finally avenge that defeat from 50 years ago UTC

They shouldn't even have played in the semi final. Incredible that Forest didn't get a home game out of three played.

The silly thing is I really believe that we would given Liverpool a better game than they did in the final.
