Overload of wingers

Post by bumba » Fri May 31, 2024 12:12 pm

Which wingers do we keep and which do we sell to even the books?

Churlinov
Redmond
Agyei
Koleosho
Odobert
Benson
Zaroury
Costelloe
Tresor

Personally would sell Churlinov, Benson, Costelloe and Odobert if we can get decent money.

Zaroury, Tresor, Koleosho, Redmond as the main 4 with Agyei coming through here and there.

I think you have to bear in mind that a number of them can play 10 and we have a lot of games next year so can probably carry 6 assuming a couple are always injured.

To answer your question I would sell Costelloe, Churlinov and Redmond.

Ramsey, Brownhill, Twine all available for the number 10 too.
Tresor, Odobert, Redmond, Zaroury, Amdouni could all play the 10.
I think Ramsey will play there once fit I'd use Tresor, Redmond or Brownhill til then.

Twine and Amdouni I'd sell too

Maybe we'll appoint a revolutionary and innovative young manager? A latter day Sir Alf Ramsey to mould us into his own style - Burnley FC: The Wingful Wonders.

Here's an experimental formation combining wingbacks, "mid-wingers" (my own idea BTW) and full wingers to overload teams on the flanks before we cut inside and score.

******************************************** Muric *********************************************

**************************Vitinho ************************ Costelloe *************************

******************* Benson *********************************** Zaroury **********************

********** Odobert ************************************************* Koleosho ****************

**** Tresor ************************************************************** Redmond *************

**NEW ************************************************************************ JayRod ***********

JayRod is back out on the left wing where he played for Southampton. It might not be his favoured position but if this is to work then we all have to Trust the Process.

As you can see, we still need a couple more wingers on the bench for cover.

I'd be reluctant to let Benson go.
Didn't feature much in the PL, but tore the right wing apart in the Championship, as we all saw.
Some wonderful goals.

So hopefully he could do it again.

Would love to see us finish the window with Benson, Redmond, Agyei, Koleosho, Tresor & Zaroury. Sell or loan others.

Keep Benson - that's a no brainer - unless he wants out.
Kompany and Benson must've had some sort of disagreement for him to play so few games.

Back end of the season we were crying out to have him on for the last 25 or so.

The problem is that several of them are injured and/or haven't proven themselves sufficiently.

Koleosho: I'd keep this lad based on his promise. Really have no clue how he'd be valued right now.
Redmond: We'd get nothing or next to nothing for him IMHO. If fit he could be a good experienced Championship player (not necessarily starting every match).
Odobert: The one we could get money for. With the money awash in the PL somebody would gamble on his potential
Benson: Keep.
Ramsey: Got to get him fit and see if he can recover his form at this level
Zaroury: Keep. Get him chance to turn the clock back to 2022.
Costelloe: We'd get next to nothing for him. Best loan and hope he can increase his value
Agyei: Why contemplate offloading other than on loan?
Churlinov: Probably needs another six months on loan to get back to full fitness. Belgium?

I’d try and cash in on Odobert if possible and then try to find Churlinov another club.

I’d like to see Koleosho retained for this season and I think he will be given he missed the second half of the season. I’d also be really keen to keep Redmond as I think he’d give us a lot at Championship level. He should have been used far more last season.

Then I really don’t know what to say about Benson, Zaroury, and Tresor. Do they have a future at the club now the manager has left? Hard to tell but I doubt we’ll need all 3 anyway.

I suspect a fully committed Tresor would win over most people if we get him playing consistently. His numbers in the Belgian league were quality. Much higher than Zaroury/Benson etc. There’s clearly a top player there, just think he needs the chance to shine.

Tressor had chances to shine more than VK gave Zaroury and he looked decidedly disinterested

I'd certainly look to move on Costelloe and Churlinov. Odobert I'd sell but only because we'll probably get good money.

Would possibly sell one of Benson or Zaroury if we're offered more than we paid.

I'd keep the rest, can't be selling Tresor at a big loss with him hardly playing.

I hope we can keep Odobert and Koleosho.
If selling the rest meant we could keep these 2 I'd be well happy.

We’ll sell who we get offered the most money for, so probably Odobert, Koleosho and Tresor.

I'm sure this is what VK wanted all along but, as we suspected, his transfer business (for wingers) was never fully completed and injuries soon ended this plan.

I'm sure it would have worked as overload on both wings would have created space for Muric to steam forward and score the goals.

Oh what might have been.
