FAO Mods
Please explain why my post re: election result was deleted? There was nothing offensive in it and it was all true.
MOD: Thank you for asking asking the question. The response is the same as it has been for the last four or five years…political threads have resulted in dozens and dozens of posters being aggressive and abusive to one another; hundreds of threads have been spoilt as a result of infighting and hundreds of complaints have been received by posters pointing out behaviours that go against the point of the messageboard.
Many people are quick to point out the ‘usual culprits’ but when it comes to politics, complaints are often received about long-serving posters with excellent reputations, who, for whatever reason, simply cannot control how they carry out a conversation/debate.
It was not a decision that the moderators wanted to make and if people could talk properly, then things might be different but the truth is, they make life much more difficult.
After quite literally hundreds of threads and warnings and tries to make it work, the easiest decision was to just plan it all together, which even we find sad. I hope you understand.

Re: FAO Mods
Can I ask a civil question?
What is the reason for not discussing politics on here as I would have thought that it would be a positive thing in the education of the electorate? Thank you.
“MOD: A reminder about political comments. Keep to the thread or the thread will be deleted. Thank you”
As I say this the question I asked on the election prediction thread.

Re: FAO Mods
If that's the case then the full message board should be shut down, every single thread turns into childish insults not just political subjectsClovius Boofus wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 10:01 amBecause some people can't debate like decent adults.

Re: FAO Mods
With many topics on the forum arguments occur, but if memory serves it was particularly bad with any political debate and users often risked the existence of the forum with defamatory remarks regarding high profile political individuals which is another reason political debate is now prohibited.

Fair enough I totally understand why it's banned from debate now, thanks Rick_MullerRick_Muller wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 10:30 amWith many topics on the forum arguments occur, but if memory serves it was particularly bad with any political debate and users often risked the existence of the forum with defamatory remarks regarding high profile political individuals which is another reason political debate is now prohibited.

Re: FAO Mods
I agree, the insults thrown about during the countless Trafford v Muric arguments were just as bad as any on the political threads.

Trust me, they weren’t. There have been some utterly vile comments made in historic political conversations.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 10:58 amI agree, the insults thrown about during the countless Trafford v Muric arguments were just as bad as any on the political threads.
