Weghorst and Amdouni
I love Foster, but it's a long old season and there'll be changes along the way. If they stay, I can't help thinking at this level that a Weghorst/Amdouni pairing would be absolute fire. Amdouni hasn't done a great deal yet, but I think he has the potential to be an excellent finisher. Weghorts link up play is excellent, he rarely gets disposessed, allowing Amdouni to advance beyond him with koleosho/Vits.
Disappointed that Odobert isn't here but excited to see others come in and see what they can do. Really hoping we see this combination. If you're a championship defence lining up against a 4 of Koleosho, Amdouni, Weghorst and Vitiniho, I think your pants are in danger of a spoiling. That said, same goes for other line ups we can field.
Any new combinations you're looking forward to seeing this year?

Wouldn't be a bad pairing, but depends if WW has the
mindset to slog through the muck-and-nettles of the Championship in the depths of an English winter.
(Amdouni too, for that matter.)
I have serious doubts whether both will be involved
long term.

Re: Weghorst and Amdouni
I think Foster is on his way to being a very well rounded forward. Faster than Weghorst. More physical than Amdouni. I think we'd miss him if he wasn't playing.
But on paper Weghorst and Amdouni should be more than enough to score goals in the Championship.
My new combination will be to try the pie and peas from the butty shop across from the Park View, as per BurnleyFC's recommendation a couple of weeks back

Amdouni is way above this level tbh , though surely he wants out ? Though he may along with a few other be “ stuck” with us until Jan window which I’m not complaining about .

I am concerned that Weggie is still here. Hope it's not because Villa may be showing interest in Foster. Wish it was the 2 September today.

Re: Weghorst and Amdouni
You reckon ? He certainly wasn’t up to Premier League standard last season so I’m not sure what the level is that is “way above” the Championship. I was excited when we signed him but became increasingly disillusioned with him as last season went on and his decision making and overall commitment seemed to deteriorate. Watching him miss an absolute sitter in the Euros didn’t do anything to change my mind about him either.AlargeClaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 9:11 amAmdouni is way above this level tbh , though surely he wants out ? With Odobert gone maybe Amdouni will come in this afternoon …hope to see him perform as this will make me pretty confident about this season .

I can see the pair of them leaving,I think we will have foster -jay rod and the new fella left up top.He might sign another on loan I think.

Is he though? He's played I the Swiss league and for 5 minutes a game for us last season. I don't think any of is really know how good he will be at this level until he plays more.AlargeClaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 9:11 amAmdouni is way above this level tbh , though surely he wants out ? Re: Weghorst and Amdouni
Amdouni was top scorer in a European competition the season before we signed him. It's concerning we haven't been able to offload him as he hasn't really got anything to prove in the Championship, but he will be a good player if he remains. Clearly good news that Weghorst seems to be off, even though he also would be a good player for us this season.

Re: Weghorst and Amdouni
If either Weghorst or Amdouni were cack they wouldn't have been playing for Netherlands and Switzerland at the Euros this summer.
There's a difference between being cack and playing in a team or for a manager that can't get the best out of you.
Both have a chance to shine this season if they fancy sticking around and putting a shift in.

Both have still a lot to prove for Burnley at any level. Neither look good enough a prem level so it remains to be seen how good they are.Its worth noting that no premiership club has shown any interest in either of them.I don't get this narrative on here about them being good players, based on their showing they are most certainly not.

To be fair he did well for that goal. Strength to show off the defender and a real firecracker of a strike. (Amdouni that is)

Re: Weghorst and Amdouni
PL teams could contain Zeki and the flaws in his game effectively because they're fitter, quicker, stronger and tactically far more aware.
He could score 30 in this division with Foster/Weggy leading the line. Has so much space to operate and isn't coming up against top-class DMs.

Re: Weghorst and Amdouni
That was a great strike from Amdouni.
He got himself into those positions a lot last season. It just goes to show the difference having an extra moment or so on the balls gives you in terms of composure and setting yourself and getting the shot off.

Re: Weghorst and Amdouni
If neither want to be here, then the best thing they can do is apply themselves for the next 20 weeks, and see what January brings ... on current form, we'll be top, or thereabouts so either ...
a) They'll be lovin' it in a successful winning happy team, and want to stick around, at least to the end of the season
b) Their form will put them in the shop window, and they'll get offers .. there's always Clubs desperate to bring players in, come January ..

Re: Weghorst and Amdouni
An embarrassment of riches.....difficult selection problems for SP.....What a time to be a Claret.
Re: Weghorst and Amdouni
Weghorst and Amdouni would start for every other club in the division and if they both stay I expect they will start for us, particularly Amdouni since Wilson has gone. Might be harsh on Foster but I just feel Weghorst would score more goals.
We have a frightening amount of talent for this level though, absolutely frightening. Benson hasn't had a kick yet and we have Tresor to come back. It's obscene.

Amdouni was one who you could see had ability last season, but at 22 years old in a struggling side it was never going to be easy. He will come good I'm sure of it

Re: Weghorst and Amdouni
Not convinced by Weghorst at all. His lack of pace limits him and his hold up isn't up to scratch. He doesn't look a goal threat at all. Just need to shift him on. Amdouni is slightly different and depends on his mentality. I would expect him to come good.

A lot of last season’s ‘outsiders’ have been involved already, and the whole dynamic has changed. They’re enjoying their football at the moment. Let’s just get behind them and see where they take us.

Somewhat unfair on SD. Yep, he's not great by any means, but he was a last throw of the dice when things weren't looking too rosy and MIGHT just have worked out. It didn't (for any of the parties involved) so I'm 90% he'll sign for Ajax this week and he and everyone else will just move on.Vincent'sCap wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 6:59 pmWeghorst really was a crap signing, hang your head in shame Dyche.

Yeh , probably will leave before deadline day. If Parker knew he was going to commit himself to the club's sole objective of getting back to the PL at the first attempt , he would have played from the start of the game instead of Rodrigues.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 7:44 pmSomewhat unfair on SD. I'm going to give him credit that he was prepared to sit on the bench the first two games and think others should recognise this.
His tenure has been a soap opera , one of a player who really wasn't good enough for the time
