Brussels trip advice

Evening all I'm off to Brussels this weekend so I'm looking for a little advice as I've never been before

Firstly and most importantly which are the recommended bars for watching the Burnley game and secondly where is the best area for bars and to have a meal

The best area for me was just off the streets of the cathedral. Stunning architecture.

Delirium village has 8 pubs.
We tried the paddle with an amazing choice of beers from green to very strong

Another vote for Delerium Cafe.

If you're looking for somewhere to eat, I like La Roue D'Or. It's a bit traditional but I've always had a good steak there (been a few times but not been since 2019....so I'm a bit out of date, now, I guess).

Av. Louise is good for a nice stroll down (decent shopping, if you have a few bob) and you can jump the tram back into town after.

Another vote for Poechenellekelder and Delirium. Went to both last year. Great bars.

Doubt you'll find the football on in those places though. Sure there was another Bruges/Brussels travel thread on here in the last year or so. Might be worth a look.

Another vote for Delerium Cafe.

Av. Louise is good for a nice stroll down (decent shopping, if you have a few bob) and you can jump the tram back into town after.

I'd recommend Les Brassins, lovely restaurant next to the birthplace of Audrey Hepburn (and close to Av Louise). The Matongé area is also close by and has some nice bars and restaurants especially near St Boniface church.

Google the big game … it’s got loads of screens and will have the footy on if you ask them maybe the day before if you can.

Aggie’s selection is top tier. There’s a nice restaurant to the right of the Delirium Village that we usually visit. Can def recommend the moules frites from there.

Depending on how long you’re going for, a day trip to Bruges is well worth it. Just over an hour on the train and another amazing selection of drinking establishments.

Enjoy. I’m in Charleroi later this month on a cycling trip. Can’t wait!

I've been to Brussels twice, last time stayed there for the Genk friendly.
Whenever I go to a new city, I type in best bars/pubs/restaurants in .......
I then look up the places on Google maps and see the reviews and pictures and save the good ones to Google maps so it's easy to find when I'm there.
In Brussels I can recommend:
Greenwich cafe brussels (stunning art deco bar)
Beer capital brussels (massive range of beer and outdoor seating)
À la Bécasse A very traditional Brussels bar
A l’Imaige Nostre-Dame Traditional brussels bar
Au Bon Vieux Temps - Traditional Brussels bar
La Fleur en Papier Doré - Traditional Brussels bar
Delerium Cafe - Was great during the day with a beer flight. Very busy at night.
't Kelderke - on the grand place square. Had a brilliant meal here in the cellar
À La Mort Subite - art deco bar again. The name translates to sudden death.

The Traditional bars are quite tricky to find. They were all round a shopping area and the entrances are like ginnels with a door on them.
I didn't use much public transport in Brussels. Mainly ubers and walking. Did catch the metro to get to the Atomium.
The old arcade was excellent to go in. Had breakfast there a few times and a wander round the shops.
Brussels in probably my favourite city for food and drink, you can't go wrong.
Charleroi airport is a bit out of the way but the buses were fairly regular there and back.
Brussels international airport is close to the centre but rhe passport control queue was an absolute nightmare to non EU passport holders

I forgot to include Poechenellekelder as probably my favourite bar and very near to the mannekin pis. Excellent beer choice and strange decor.
I found around each of these bars, there were always a couple of other excellent bars as well, probably making money off the overflow
