New merch
Just seen the club have put out some new merchandise from that Travis Mathew company we are partnered with. Anyone spending £130 on a hoodie?

Some people will.
Some people won't.
I recently spent £160 on a hoody from a brand I like.

Relatively cheap for their gear. Bet it’s v good quality but it’s not my budget.
Good in general to cater for all pockets.

Re: New merch
what bugs me more about that ad is the fact that you get an option to buy using Klarna, when the reality is that if you need to pay in instalments for a hoodie it's too expensive for you in the first place and yet so many of the younger generation see nothing wrong with that.
Re: New merch
I’m sure they’re very nice but I don’t think I’ve spent £130 on a single item of clothing in my life (suits don’t count) and I’m not about to start now!

Had not even registered that, yes if you're paying for hoodies on finance then you seriously need to look at your priorities in life.Rick_Muller wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 3:58 pmwhat bugs me more about that ad is the fact that you get an option to buy using Klarna, when the reality is that if you need to pay in instalments for a hoodie it's too expensive for you in the first place and yet so many of the younger generation see nothing wrong with that.

Some people may have the money in the bank but just like spreading the cost especially with it being interest free.Poulton-le-Claret wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 3:59 pmHad not even registered that, yes if you're paying for hoodies on finance then you seriously need to look at your priorities in life.

I regularly use Klarna or PayPal Pay in 3 for clothing. Spreads the cost out and allows me to spend on other things that I’d have to forego if I paid in one lump sum. I can see the dangers in it for those less inclined to manage their money maturely but it’s been great for myself.Poulton-le-Claret wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 3:59 pmHad not even registered that, yes if you're paying for hoodies on finance then you seriously need to look at your priorities in life.

Re: New merch
A lot of people on here moaning about a new method of buying highly desirable items.
But I'm old enough to remember when putting down your first payment on a hoodie was a big deal.
I can still recall the day my Father happily announced to the family that his hoodie had been paid off. We all had extra dripping to celebrate.
*****
Seriously guys, if you really want the hoodie but want to spread the cost - put aside £43.33 a month and in three months time you'll be able to buy the hoodie. Top tip: Keep the money inside an old jam jar.
Alternatively, put aside £32.25 per month and spread the cost over an extra month free of charge!
****
Below are the Klarma conditions. To be fair, it is interest free as long as you meet the payments. But if there's any chance you might not be able to do then please think twice about it.

More detailed terms from the Klarma website:Burnley website wrote:Klarna: Pay in 3 is offered by Klarna Financial Services UK Limited and is an unregulated credit agreement. It is available to eligible UK residents who are 18 years or older. Borrowing more than you can afford or paying late may negatively impact your financial status and ability to obtain credit. Subject to status. Late fees and Klarna's Pay in 3 terms and conditions apply. Klarna's Pay in 30 days is an unregulated credit agreement. Borrowing more than you can afford or paying late may negatively impact your financial status and ability to obtain credit. 18+, UK residents only. Subject to status. Ts&Cs and late fees apply. Terms.
There aren't any fees or penalties for saving money in a jam jar. If you're not able to put your savings into your jam jar one month there are no penalty fees and no credit agencies are informed. Having a jam jar doesn't negatively affect your credit rating but can help you save money for hoodies.Klarma Website wrote:10. What happens if you can’t take an instalment because I don’t have enough money on my card?
If we can’t take the first instalment from your card, we’ll let you know, and try up to two times again to take the money. We’ll let you know when we’re going to try again, so you’ll have plenty of time to put some money onto your card to make the payment.
If we can’t take the money from you after two attempts, we’ll roll the missed payment over to the second instalment. If we can’t take the second instalment, we’ll give you a few days to update your card details or make sure there’s enough money on your card.
If we still can’t take payment after two more attempts, we’ll roll over the payment to the next and final instalment. If we still can’t take the payment, we’ll try again twice. If we’re still not successful, we might ask you to pay the outstanding amount directly or use a debt collection agency to collect the money for us. A debt collection agency is an FCA regulated company used by Klarna to recover funds that are overdue.
Klarna will always get in touch with you before charging your card. We will also contact you if we roll over a payment to the next due date or if we have to use a debt collection agency.
Not paying your instalments on time might also mean you can’t use Klarna in the future. We will report information to credit reference agencies about the payments you make, and about any payments that you fail to make on time. Borrowing more than you can afford or paying late may negatively impact your financial status and ability to obtain credit from Klarna and other lenders in the future.
11. Will using Pay in 3 affect my credit score?
We might carry out a limited credit search on you at a credit reference agency. This is a ‘soft credit check’, and won’t affect your credit score, but we will report information to credit reference agencies about the payments you make, and about any payments that you fail to make on time. Failure to pay on time might affect your ability to obtain credit in the future from Klarna and other lenders. More information about reporting to credit reference agencies can be found in Klarnas Privacy Notice.
12. Do you charge late fees?
We will charge you a late fee if you do not pay us up to 14 days after your 2nd or 3rd instalments are due. We’ll attempt up to three times to charge your card within this time. If we are still not able to collect payment from you, we will charge you a late fee. You will not be charged a late fee if we collect payment or you pay us before then.
We’ll send you plenty of friendly reminders so you can make sure you’ve got enough money on your card before we collect payment from you.
If your order is £20 or more, we will charge you a late fee of £5. If you only receive part of your order and the total value is £20 or less, the late fee will only be 25% of the purchase price of the order. For example, if your order’s total value is £16, you will be charged a £4 late fee, which is 25% of £16.
You will only be charged a maximum of one late fee per instalment. We won’t charge you a late fee if you have less than £1 left to pay.
We may delay or decide not to charge you late fees. If we do not enforce our rights against you for late fees, this will not stop us enforcing those rights at a later date. If you think late fees have been charged in error, please contact Klarna Customer Services.
13. How does Klarna store my card details and my personal data?
We store your card details on our systems when you shop with us. We’ll use these details to approve future payments. Unless you opt out, we may also use this information to fill out your card details for your convenience when you buy things in the future.
You can manage your cards online. If Klarna gets updated card details from your bank, we might also store this information on our system.
We use your personal data to identify you and to carry out customer analysis, credit assessments, credit reporting to credit reference agencies, marketing and business development. We might also share your data with some partners (such as credit reference bureaus), which might be based outside of the UK.
Please see our Privacy Notice here for more information about your rights, how you can get in touch with us, or to complain. By using Klarna’s services you confirm that you’ve read this notice.

As a single parent with a mortgage, Klarna is a life saver for purchasing stuff whether it's split into 3 or giving more time to pay for it. Plus with regards to clothing, if the item(s) doesn't fit, then you aren't waiting for the money to go back into your account.Rick_Muller wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 3:58 pmwhat bugs me more about that ad is the fact that you get an option to buy using Klarna, when the reality is that if you need to pay in instalments for a hoodie it's too expensive for you in the first place and yet so many of the younger generation see nothing wrong with that.

Love that answer, I've been using that line for ages when a product appears to overpriced. In my case it's a true statement, prior to a career changing accident I was a car mechanic and bought cheap cars a customer didn't want to repair due to whatever reason. Fixed them up to a drivable condition, drove them for a couple years, rinse and repeat

Re: New merch
I've never used the jam jar method and have some questions:
1. Are there any specific flavours or makes that work more effectively?
2. What happens to the excess jam that I guess will overflow as you put the money in?
3. Do I need to put it in the fridge?

Yes, I guess you could say that. It's quite common for apparel companies and golf companies to partnership. Adidas used to own Taylor Made Golf, Puma/Cobra Golf are in partnership, there are others I think.

1. Yes, Raspberry and strawberry are best. Everybody knows this.
2. Only use the jam jar once you have eaten all the jam and cleaned the jar. If you can't afford a jam jar, use an empty jar of olives.
3. Put it under your bed. Nobody will look under your bed for savings these days. It's positively Victorian.

Don’t get the Klarna comments I think it’s brilliant! I remember my mum buying me stuff from littlewoods when I was young basically to keep up with the trends at school. You would pay more than double the value with the interest but pay off weekly for the rest of your life! Klarna is interest free I use it regularly, even though I may have the money to pay up front, you feel like you might not miss paying a tenner a week for something rather than pay a big chunk up front.

The problem is that IF credit goes wrong (eg. the company you work for goes bust, you're made redundent, or even if your benefit payments are stopped) then whatever the reason, whether it's your fault or not, your payments can snowball out of control.
Each to their own. Some people are going to use it and experience no problems. Others might be unfortunate. As adults we get to make our own decisions but it isn't without risk.
Neither is the jam jar method - somebody might steal your jam jar. A better option would be to open a savings account and transfer money regularly bypassing the jam jar entirely.
But jam jars have a retro feel to them. Especially when kept under the bed.

Apparently not although I thought the same. But it’s a tribute to us the fans according to the announcement.
This is more than just apparel; it's a tribute to the fans, a statement of allegiance, and a testament to the enduring spirit of Burnley Football Club.
Together with TravisMathew, we’ve formed a special collaboration that allows us to bring fans modern fashion, that truly celebrates our club’s incredible heritage.
