Trafford - 6 - nothing to do
Humphreys - 6 - decent first half, looked tired second half
CJ - 7 - looked good tonight, calm on the ball and looked to pass forwards
Esteve - 7 - bit slack first 5 but grew into game and won most that came his way
Pires - 7 - great first half, didn’t get forward as much second
Cullen - 7 - looks better when on his own sitting deep, everything goes through him
Brownhill - 7 - bar the pen I didn’t notice him all that much
Hannibal - 7 - a lot of his work goes un noticed, great touch and very busy
Luca - 5 - his end product has to improve
Foster - 5 - he’s working hard but nothing seems to drop for him
Anthony - 7 - first half great, always an option, tired in second

Have to give Esteve MOM

Hannibal- 8 MOTM

Koleosho- 6

Toss up between Esteve and Hannibal for MOTM, but the first half from Hannibal was ridiculous, bordering a 9. He was everywhere.

Trafford 7 - Not much to do, and other than a moment or two of uncertainty that wasn't really his fault he did what was required well.

Humphries 6 - He's a left footed CB playing at RB. Limited going forwards obviously but he's doing a passable job for us and he came out against two tricky customers with a clean sheet. Well done.

Esteve 7 - Solid. Seems to be growing in confidence which has culminated in him trying a few Beyer-esque balls and runs which he could do with learning the right moments to do those.

Egan-Riley 6 - Solid. Nothing remarkable, but kept another clean sheet. He's just decent back up, no more no less.

Pires 7 - Personally thought he was decent. Whittaker looked off it tonight, or was it because he and Anthony pinned him back? Again, a clean sheet and got involved well. Final ball not great in certain moments.

Cullen 6 - Mopped up well and some decent balls. Unremarkable game.

Brownhill 7 - I don't really think anyone stood out as being great tonight but he seems to have taken MOTM by virtue of scoring. Industrious as ever but believe he and Hannibal are wasted where they are.

Mejbri 5 - showing the graft and dogged determination he's becoming known for but a blind man on a galloping horse can see he's no use to us as a 10. He isn't giving Foster the support he needs and isn't fast enough to join the attack. It's a 5 but some of that is not really his fault.

Koleosho 6 - More of the same. Looks extremely threatening but often times isn't due to the final ball or his decision making letting him down. Teams are frightened of him though and that does open up space for others that hopefully we can learn to try and exploit.

Anthony 5 - he looks like a good, committed, willing runner and those are always welcome here but I think going forwards he is proving to be quite limited. We've been spoilt over the last few years at LW and unfortunately he is off the standard of what we have had in the very recent past.

Foster - 6. Isn't helped by the formation, but also doesn't help himself. Like Koleosho, his decision-making and end product are not always there. Also, balls are going into the box and he's either not there or marking himself.

J-Rod - 5 Thanks for everything our kid but we need to not be ina position where you're our second choice striker by the end of January.

Sarmiento - 6 not really enough time to show anything than a bit of industry

Massengo - See Sarmiento

Laurent - See Massengo

I thought we were good and lively first half / 55mins then stopped and were below par.
Yes we did a job i suppose but that last bit was awful to watch and worse than Saturday.

Starting to understand the Fulham and Bournemouth fans now…. Becausethat last part was utterly boring.

Humphreys 6
Egan Riley 6
Esteve 7
Pires 6 good first half
Cullen 6
Brownhill 7
Koleosho 6
Hannibal 6 busy
Anthony 7
Foster 5 need another option ( which isn’t Jay)

Subs
Sarmiento 6

First half wasn’t bad but overall a real lack of quality in the final third and some of the balls into the box were poor. Didn’t really enjoy the 2nd half and think we could have hurt them more. Managed injury time really well though.

Trafford 6 - Nothing to do.
Humphreys 6 - Did ok to say not his position.
Egan-Riley 6 - Slow and got caught out of position when he was booked but ok apart from that.
Esteve 7 Solid
Pires 7 Good first half, quiet second like most of the team
Cullen 6 Solid but could take more risks with passes when in the opposition half.
Brownhill 7 really good first half, did little in the second.
Koleosho 6, lacked end product.
Hannibal 6, good energy but isn't a number 10.
Anthony 7 very good first half, a couple of good shots on goal.
Foster 5, Poor, Desperately need a decent striker.

Sarmiento 6 - tried to make something happen.

Good first half apart from the number of wasted final balls when in good positions. Should have been more than one up considering the number of times we got in their box and into dangerous positions. Very poor second half. They overloaded midfield and we didn't cope with it well. A few players looked very tired after about 70 minutes.we desperately need a goal scorer. Foster doesn't look up to it. Hopefully Flemming can add more of a goal threat and some creativity in the final third.

Trafford 6 untested

Humphreys 6 limited in that position but fine

Egan-Riley 7 decent game

Esteve 7 also decent

Pires 8 probably as good as he’s been so far tonight, needs to make better decisions with the final ball but you can level that at most of the team right now

Cullen 7 metronome

Brownhill 6 he’d be better pushed forward behind Foster

Hannibal 6 he isn’t the player for the position he’s in as he has a knack of winning the ball then getting caught on it almost immediately and he has zero creativity. Hopefully Flemming will be back sooner rather than later.

Koleosho 6 all the pace, all the workrate, but tries to do far too much himself and doesn’t make great decisions with the ball. Remains very raw but a very dangerous player in this division.

Anthony 7 the pick of our forward players

Foster 6 did some really good work especially 2nd half but we don’t create anywhere near enough for him and he doesn’t create enough for himself. Took a lot of stick from some guy near us who seemed to have turned up just to lambast him for 90 mins rather than watching the game.

A second goal would have killed this although we were hardly hanging on at the end. Part of the problem is we’re not set up to score bagfuls and we seem to be in that mindset of trying to walk it in. There were so many times that Foster and Anthony had peeled away from their man and made that ‘Tella’ run, with a clear pass on but we didn’t take the risk and went sideways instead. Without Flemming we’d be better putting Laurent at the base with Cullen and pushing Brownhill forward instead of Hannibal as the former at least has a goal threat.

Work in progress obvs as it’s still early days and we’re still picking up the points.

A tough game to rate. There are positives though. Another clean sheet for a very young back 5 being the main one. I feel like we have square pegs in round holes at the moment and that something is missing - hopefully we'll see a bit more quality in the final third when players like Roberts, Ramsey, Redmond, Tresor, Fleming return. The first half was progressive and we got into decent positions. Our final ball was dreadful but at least we looked dangerous to a point... even if the front four are toothless.

The second half was like watching a cross between a Sean Dyche and a Stan Ternent team. I half expected to see Ronnie Jepson waiting to come on in the last 5 minutes. It really was poor, especially when you consider Plymouth offered the square root of naff all, all night! There was no pattern to our play and by the end it all felt a bit harder work than it ought to have done. The timewasting in the corner typified that for me.

Trafford 6 - hard to rate him when he had so little to do!
Humphreys 6 - he's not a right back, but he's filling in ok. We really need Roberts back for the tougher tests though.
Egan-Riley 6 - ditto Humphreys. CJ did ok, but he's clearly filling a gap until others return.
Esteve 7 - an easy night for Steve.
Pires 7 - he's a curious lad. He has a lovely first touch at times, but looks like he's about to fall over the ball at others. He's settling in and looks a decent player to me on the whole though.
Cullen 6 - not his usual self tonight and I think he's still getting used to Parkerball.
Brownhill 7 - steady eddy, another goal. Josh and Esteve are the first names on the teamsheet at the moment.
Koleosho 6 - bright and tricky, but his final ball needs a lot of work. Tired badly and was rightly subbed.
Hannibal 5 - I'm sure I've seen this lad before, his name was Jeff Hendrick. I don't mean anything bad by that either. He works hard and disrupts the play, but ultimately he's not a no.10. Has he created a chance or had a shot yet?
Anthony 6 - started well but faded badly and looked absolutely knackered by the end. Another one who needs to work on their final ball.
Foster 5 - Plymouth played a high line. We've been waiting for this all season. He had space in behind to exploit, but his anticipation and timing of runs was infuriating. It was a classic Lyle performance to be honest. A couple of nice moments, but no real substance. At no point did I think he would score tonight and that's the problem. He did provide the best laugh I've had a football in a while though... not once, but twice! The way he left the pitch injured in the second half; I thought we had James Brown up front.

Trafford 6… hardly anything to do
Humphrey’s 6… not a full back but did a good job shutting out Sissoko
Esteve 8… bit of a Rolls Royce at this level defensively
CJ 7 …. Decent and plays the ball forward quicker than Worral
Pires 7….I like him and thought he played well again. Whittaker did very little.
Cullen 8…. Everything went through him . Did he misplace a pass all night ?
Brownhill 7 …busy. Nice penalty.
Hannibal 7 … excellent first half before fading. Has good touch.
Anthony 6 …. Bit better tonight and got a couple of shots off. Looks capable of more.
Foster 6…. Mard with his “injury” followed by a miraculous recovery. Still doesn’t look like scoring …thought he should have done with the chance in the first half when he lifted it over the keeper.
Koleosho 6 …. Decent first half though like all our forward players failed to find the right final ball in promising positions.

My worry that we don’t have enough goals in the team to sustain a challenge continues. Flemming coming back on Saturday would be good if possible.

Trafford 7 - absolutely no saves to make. Was tidy enough with the ball at his feet.

Humphreys 6 - I like the look of him. Having to do a job out of position at the moment but doing it well

Egan-Riley 7 - seems to get gradually more comfortable every game he plays

Esteve 7 - good. Wish he would play the ball wide more, rather than back.

Pires 7 - some good, some ok stuff

Cullen 6 - no sure if it’s the set up, this group of players but doesn’t look as sharp or as snappy as when he’s firing

Brownhill 6 - very composed for the pen. Did a lot of running as usual

Koleosho 7 - erratic, exciting, no end product yet

Hannibal 7 - got more involved tonight, want to seem him get more on the ball

Anthony 7 - we need to get the ball to him quicker and more often. I think he would give most full backs in this league a torrid time. Had a good strike at goal

Foster 6 - he’s not the answer up front for me. I’d rather he did less running and was in the middle for when crossing come flashing across

We are flying points wise. Decision making and final ball in the last third is still missing. I’m looking forward to watching this team develop.

We’ve got such a solid base and and build from here.

I think people need to realise that although Hannibal is playing in the 10, he isn’t a 10, and isn’t being asked to play as a 10.

He’s there to press high and win the ball back, which he is doing superbly, but also explains why we’re lacking so much creativity through the middle.

Good slick performance, until Plymouth changed their tactics at half time. Kind of worrying that SP didn't really address this other than shutting up shop for the last 15. Again I'll let him off, as we've so many injuries, we are really struggling with making positive changes off the bench at the moment. Another clean sheet with a make-shift defence is also a bonus. If we'd not played Sunderland when we were in absolute turmoil, we'd be top by now. So can't grumble too much.

We are looking scarily light up top at the moment though. We have Jay who can't run, Foster who can't score and Flemming who can't get fit. We need to try and stay in and around the top 3 till Jan then go all out for a decent target man.

Should have been finished by half time, final ball was poor. Second half they changed tactics in saying that despite their dominance I can’t remember a single chance they had. Onwards and upwards UTC

Trafford 6 - nothing to do

Humphreys 6 - I’d give a 5.5 if I could. He was ok in patches but a right back he ain’t
Egan-Riley 6 - a strange one. Does some good tuff but does some poor stuff as well.
Esteve 7 - never looked in any bothe
Pires 6 - neat and tidy

Cullen 7 - efficient
Brownhill 6 - another 5.5 if available. Penalty aside didn’t notice him
Koleosho 5 - has to learn when to play the simple ball
Hannibal 7** - his best game for us by a mile
Anthony 6 - good first half, like so many others, not in it second

Foster 5 - two runs first half and a 10 minute spell second aside, he was awful. We can’t go through the season with him first choice

Sarmiento 6 - tidy

Second half was dire - let’s be right. Plymouth not up to much so thankfully when they got opportunities they didn’t take them. Wasting time for 6 minutes plus at the end - really? They simply ran out of ideas and steam second half. Flemming, Ramsey and Redmond will hopefully give us something different when back, whenever that may be, and Roberts is desperately missed.

Cullen...8
Koleosho...5. A really poor night
Hannibal...7. Works his socks off

Foster...7. A decent line leader but never a striker

Another game reminiscent of Kompany’s early days.

Trafford- 6 - little to do but his judgement of when to play short and long was a bit hit and miss second half.

Humphrys- 6 - looked like a centre half doing a competent job out of position.

Pires - 8 - a quietly assured night against Whittaker, but our best player in possession and integral to almost all our best approach play.

Egan Riley- 6 - proving to be a solid understudy even if his inexperience is shown in an occasional hesitancy both defensively and in possession.

Esteve - 8 - one brain fade aside when he played a really odd backpass, imperious.

Cullen- 7 - outstanding in the first half but for whatever reason faded after the break.

Brownhill - 6 - composed penalty and a factor in our high tempo in the first half but another to be be less influential after the break.

Hannibal - 6 - won the ball back effectively for the most part but he was sloppy in possession at times.

Koleosho- 7 - the only person who could stop him was himself. Decision making indifferent, should have buried our clearest chance of the first half, but terrorised Plymouth whenever we got him the ball.

Anthony - 6 - worked hard for the team and a couple of smart efforts but for long periods he was ineffective as an attacking force despite Plymouth appearing to be vulnerable in the right full back position. Still settling in and yet to show us exactly what sort of player he is.

Foster - 7 - a much more effective night's work but when his confidence is down he can be a but static around the box as though he's thinking before moving and that was evident tonight. Needs a goal.

Sarmiento - 6 - didn't quite have the pace to give us an outball but used the ball OK.

Laurent - stiffened up the midfield a touch.

Rodriguez- experience helped is run down the clock.

A good first half that showed lots of promise as we made the pitch much bigger than we did against Portsmouth and were able to effectively move the ball from side to side. The second half started OK but gradually deteriorated as we got sloppier and Plymouth got emboldened and whilst we werent hanging on, the last 25 minutes were decidedly unconvincing. But overall that shouldn't detract from a decent night's work. Still plenty to work on - with Humphrys out of position we looked stilted on our right when building from deep, whilst our movement around the box meant we didn't capitalise on lots of good positions we created in the first half in particular. But this was another small step in the right direction.

From TV.

Trafford - 6 - Little to do.

Humphreys - 6 - Progressing nicely. Mostly solid defensively and offered a bit in attack.

Egan-Riley - 6 - Also progressing nicely. A couple of errors that may prove more costly against better sides but some clever play too.

Esteve - 7 - Rock solid.

Pires - 6 - OK. Some mistakes, some good play.

Cullen - 6 - Nothing special but there isn’t too much he can do in this set up.

Anthony - 7 - Quite lively at times and the nearest to scoring from open play. Early poor powder puff shot where we know he can do better but caused a good save from our best move.

Brownhill - 6 - Usual in and out performance. Good penalty after goalkeeper was deliberately faffing about.

Hannibal - 7 - Tried hard enough with some effect.

Koleosho - 5 - My mark maybe a bit harsh but despite lots of the ball he couldn’t beat a man by pace or trickery. Did set up Anthony for our best chance but also missed a good opportunity. He seems to be the one player we have that can make a difference but he needs to improve. Frustrating.

Foster 7 - MoM - Worked hard in his lonesome role. Some well timed runs as Plymouth squeezed the play but things didn’t come off for him.

Sub:

Sarmiento - 5 - offered little.

We won. That’s about it!

We won from what looked to me like a dubious penalty. We hardly looked like scoring again. You would think that with a 1-0 lead Plymouth would open up a bit and we would get some more chances. We never really looked like doing that. In the end we needed to waste time and do the ‘hold it in the corner routine’ in order to wind down the clock - which we did pretty well.

Plymouth weren’t great but defended well and might have got lucky (I’ve seen Whittaker in three games now and see nothing that makes him better then anything we‘ve got).

Looking at individual play there seemed to be a lot of players that struggled to control the ball or make the simplest of passes. On this showing they don’t appear to be that good?

Anyway, we won.

Trafford 7
Didn't have much to do, but I think his distribution has improved massively. Some nice passes that helped us in the build up.

Pires 7
Looked very lively in the first half. Needs to improve his final ball though.

Esteve 7
Started awkwardly but quickly got back to his usual self.

Egan-Riley 6
Did OK, but unfortunately has a mistake in him.

Humphreys 6
Decent enough but looked nonchalant at times. Still not sure he should be playing at right back - he offers next to none offensively.

Cullen 7 MOTM
His best game this season. Real engine.

Brownhill 6
Did well in the first half, but disappeared later.

Hannibal 6
Made some important tackles that usually go unnoticed. However, he would be more useful in a deeper role.

Anthony 7
Amazing in the first half. His movement was brilliant and it always looked like he had a lot of space to run into. Reminded me of Tella (with less quality of course). Needs to improve his decision making though.

Koleosho 6
Decent in the first half, tried too hard in the second.

Foster 6
At least he tried. Made some nice runs, won duels, but he needs to do better in the final third. His misses and wrong decisions are costing us goals.

Sarmiento 6
OK.

Parker 7
Brilliant first half. However, we need to learn how to kill off teams.

From tv
Trafford 7 nothing to do
Humphries 6 not a natural right back but did ok
CJ 7 did fine
Esteve 7 some important interceptions and tackles
Pires 7 involved
Hannibal 7 gives the ball away too much but his energy is infectious
Cullen 7 does what he always does
Brownhill 8 good performance, plus one for the goal
Koleosho 6 so frustrating, moments of brilliance followed by a poor final ball
Foster 7 he needs support Mr Parker
Anthony 6 decent first half and a long range shot in the second, but fairly anonymous...not sure if he’s good enough to start
Sarimiento 6 not in the game enough

A good first half where we could have had 3 goals, but that second half was hard to watch with so many misplaced passes and lack of ideas and tactics. Scott Parker realises he has a young team which needs to learn and adapt quickly, though our league position and points tally shows we are certainly on the right track. In the last two games however against newly promoted teams we have one scored one goal, which was a penalty....Parker has to address this.
